About the Role: The Renewable Energy Manager will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Renewable Energy Plan. This role involves evaluating renewable energy technologies, identifying cost-effective carbon-neutral strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and securing funding opportunities. The Manager will serve as the Authority’s technical expert and strategic advisor on all matters related to renewable energy and energy resilience. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Planning & Analysis - Develop a Renewable Energy Plan aligned with the Authority’s Sustainability Action Plan. - Forecast energy demand and renewable energy production. - Conduct scenario planning and cost-benefit analyses for short-, mid-, and long-term strategies. Project Development & Evaluation - Assess feasibility of renewable technologies (e.g., solar, hydro, in-pipe recovery, floating solar). - Evaluate infrastructure needs for energy generation, storage, and fleet electrification. - Recommend energy efficiency upgrades and microgrid opportunities. Regulatory & Environmental Compliance - Identify and address regulatory requirements and permitting needs. - Evaluate environmental impacts and integrate sustainability standards into projects. Funding & Partnerships - Identify and pursue grants, incentives, and alternative funding sources. - Evaluate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Community Choice Aggregation options. Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting - Present findings and recommendations to the Governing Board and community stakeholders. - Draft technical memoranda and executive summaries. - Support public outreach and education efforts. Minimum Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, or related field. - Minimum 10 years of experience in renewable energy planning or sustainability consulting. - Proven experience developing and implementing renewable energy strategies. - Strong knowledge of California energy regulations and climate mandates. - Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and energy modeling tools. - Ability to travel locally for site visits and community meetings.
