Position Summary: The EHS Lab and Manufacturing Manager is responsible for managing the organization's safety programs to protect employees and company assets, ensuring safe working conditions. This role involves formulating and enforcing work safety standards and procedures. Key risk prevention areas include hazardous materials exposure, accidents, fires, and other unsafe conditions. The officer ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and advises management on problem correction. Primary Responsibilities: • Maintain the safety and operations of chemistry and electrochemistry-based R&D labs, as well as mechanical assembly-based light manufacturing facilities. • Evaluate requirements and manage all Environmental, Health, and Safety initiatives and permitting. Serve as the subject matter expert on municipal, state, and federal legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OH&SA). • Maintain current and accurate information on the company’s Incident Management Reporting system, and work with site leadership on timely reporting and investigation of loss events such as injuries, spills, and near-miss events. • Conduct weekly environmental health and safety inspections and support managers/leads in ensuring all corrective actions are tracked and resolved to completion. • Develop and implement a variety of safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by state and federal legislation. You will be a champ for test stand design, procurement and electrochemical testing for our innovative water electrolyzer systems. We will work together to create groundbreaking solutions to transform our technologies for low-cost green H2 production. Primary Responsibilities: • Benchmark MEA performance, durability and cost working closely with collaborators from industry and academia. • Brainstorm innovative solutions for MEA design and optimization towards performance and durability improvement. • Lead as a cell engineering champ to investigate the interactions between MEA and other components. • Pinpoint underlying MEA mechanical and chemical degradation mechanisms and bring up mitigating solutions to upgrading the MEA lifetime. • Scale up MEA production from lab scale to full scale using industry processes (roll-to-roll coating, sputtering, and tape-casting). • Interface with stack development engineer towards MEA integration. • Interface with quality engineer to ensure the MEA quality compliance. • Interact with material scientists for MEA composition and microstructural characterization. • Work cohesively with chemists for new catalyst and membrane development. • Supervise and train junior engineers/scientists in MEA fabrication and analysis. • Collaborate with testing engineers for MEA testing and rigorous data analysis. • Delegate the corporation to interact with vendors, customers, and other stakeholders.
