at The Shyft Group, Inc. in Waterville , Maine, United States Job Description Welder - copy | DuraMag | Waterville, ME Regular Employee | Hourly Non-Exempt What you'll do: • Use modification and welding skills to build and rework product • Perform welding (AWS 3G/4G) according to blue prints • Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete welding in assigned area • Fabricate components from raw stock, as needed • Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etc. • Understand, and be able to articulate, the production flow of an assigned product line or area • Self-check work and inspect prior processes • Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required • Meet production goals • Maintain a clean and safe work area • Initiate process improvements • Support 5S in work area • Lead / perform lean events • Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues • Solve complex problems with minimal assistance What you need to be successful: • Excellent attendance • Positive attitude • Strong and consistent attention to detail • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task • Team oriented • Basic computer skills are required • Must be able to pass required welding certification DuraMag test. • Previous experience and/or certifications preferred • Must understand AWS welding symbols • Must be able to set up, adjust, and maintain welding machines • Must be able to Mig or Tig weld steel, stainless, and aluminum as needed • Willing to: oLearn and rotate within various weld areas oWear PPE respirators for extended amount of time oImprove self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed) • Able to: oRead and comprehend blue prints including weld specifications at a high level oWork overtime on short notice Why The Shyft Group? Welder - 1st Shift

SCHEDULE: Monday - Thursday, 7 am to 5:30 pm LOCATION: Winslow, Maine POSITION SUMMARY: The Welder is responsible for performing welding tasks involved in the construction of trailer base frames, walls, roofs, doors, ramps, and gates for various aluminum-framed trailers. This includes measuring, cutting, and welding of aluminum trailer components. FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Reads and follows blueprints and work orders, ensuring a quality product that meets customer demands. • Welds different facets of aluminum trailers, including but not limited to: tacking, clamping, and welding with proper bead size on bases and cages by the work order; ensures the quality of welds for structural integrity. • Obtains raw materials from the Material Handlers. • Buff out rough edges using a hand-held power grinder. • Notifies supervisor of any mechanical or material issues, including but not limited to, defects in material, damage to the trailer, and deviations from the work order. • Ensures that the finished product meets quality expectations. Strives for the highest level of quality and understands the need for continuous improvement; supports the concept of "good enough is never good enough". • Maintains a clean and safe work area; works to minimize scrap, places unused material back in the appropriate area, and disposes of waste appropriately. • Follows all safety procedures, wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and immediately reports any accidents or near misses to the supervisor. • Performs other related duties and assignments as required. DESIRED EDUCATION//EXPERIENCE: • Minimum: previous welding experience and ability to read a tape measure. • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is helpful • Prior welding experience with aluminum or steel is desired. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: • Must be able to work quickly without sacrificing quality or safety • Must have a keen understanding of manufacturing processes. • Must be able to measure and cut accurately • Must possess the ability to creatively think and solve problems • Ability to read blueprints and work orders accurately • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
