Position: Welder Summary Description: A Welder is responsible for fusing pieces of metal together to join metal parts, fill a hole, or fix seams in metal. Their duties include finding the correct tools to properly ignite the torch and welding machine for the specific type of metal, positioning, lining up, and securing all metal pieces according to design specifications prior to welding, and joining these pieces together. Duties & Responsibilities: · Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and welding process specifications to weld custom metal products. · Operate flame cutting tools · Perform the job according to the drawings provided and assemble items as instructed by the production supervisor. · Follow safety procedures and ensure good welding practices. · Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers · Finding the right pieces of metal according to the design · Following all safety and health procedures to avoid accidents and hazards · Choosing the best equipment to weld specific metals · Welding components in flat, vertical or overhead positions · Secure parts and assemblies according to specifications using various tools · Cut work pieces using powered and/or non-powered equipment/tools · Remove rough spots from work pieces using portable grinder, hand files or scrapers · Operating angle grinders and other tools · Lining up specific metal components using calipers, rulers, and clamp pieces · Maintain a clean working area · Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed. Qualification Requirements: · Past welding experience is required. · Accurately read and use a tape measure to help produce small steel parts required per drawling specs using various powered tools/machines. · Must be able to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials requirements and task sequences. · Ability to problem solve, plan and organize jobs and tasks. · Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication skills. · Strong organizational skills with an exceptional eye for detail.
