You'll be part of the founding hardware team turning an early functional prototype into a robust, scalable product that will be deployed at dealerships, collision centres and logistics hubs worldwide. Core responsibilities • Read mechanical drawings, CAD prints and physical samples to understand fit‑up requirements • Fit, tack and finish‑weld steel and aluminum components (primarily MIG/GMAW; occasional TIG/GTAW) • Cut, notch, drill or tap raw profiles as needed; install bolts, latches, hinges and alignment dowels • Verify critical dimensions (±0.5 mm typical) with calipers, squares and jigs; document deviations • Proactively collaborate with the design team to shorten build cycles: suggest CAD revisions that reduce weld time or distortion, and design/build simple jigs or fixtures in‑house (e.g., tab‑and‑slot plates, adjustable clamp bars) that make repeat assemblies faster and more accurate • Maintain a clean, safe work cell; comply with OSHA and AWS D1.1/D1.2 practices Minimum qualifications • 3+ years professional welding/fabrication experience • Proficient in MIG and basic TIG on mild steel and 6061‑T6 aluminum • Able to read GD&T symbols, welding symbols and bills of material • Comfortable operating band saw, cold saw, angle grinder and drill press • Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods Preferred / nice‑to‑have • Current AWS D1.1 structural‑steel or D1.2 aluminum certification • Experience with jigs/fixtures for small‑batch production • Fork‑lift certification, overhead‑crane or rigging experience • Familiarity with lean 5S practices Diversity commitment At Tractable, we are committed to building a diverse team and inclusive workplace where people's varied backgrounds and experiences are valued and recognised. As a welder at Robinson Fans, you will be responsible for welding most equipment fabricated onsite. This includes our fans and the housing they go in. Each weld takes precision and skill. Our welders are critical to ensure our industrial fans meet the high-quality standards our customers are accustomed to getting.
