Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications: • Able to pass a GMAW Weld Test • Proficient in MIG welding techniques with a solid understanding of welding principles • Ability to conduct thorough visual inspections of welded parts for quality and compliance. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. • Competent in with measuring tools. • Willingness to work a 2nd shift schedule (typical schedule 2pm-10pm) • Please ensure that you attach your resume along with your application. The role of a Fitter Welder serves a vital part within the facility's production team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Welding structural steel parts as specified per drawing or print. • Safely produce a quality product • Maintaining housekeeping • Obtain and maintain all welding certifications. • Assure the structural components are welded correctly with visual inspection. • Willing to work swing shifts The fitter welder will be an integral member of the Nucor Towers & Structure team who brings a strong and consistent work ethic, demonstrates the attention to detail needed to ensure that the material is being sent with the quality that the customers expect from Nucor, and exhibits good communication skills that will enable them to coordinate with other departments. A successful candidate must be able to work independently as well as in a group and be willing and able to work weekends and holidays as operating conditions require. The Weld Tech/Instructor responsibilities are included, but not limited to: • Provide classroom and shop floor training to new and current fitter(s) and welder(s). • Administer weld qualification test in accordance with AWS D1.1 • Support production on welding related issues. • Responsible to maintain and update weld certification tracker and ensure all fitters and welders are up to date. • Perform welding equipment and flux oven calibration using amperage/voltage, wire feed speed and gas flow meter as required. • Review welding requirements to keep NTS compliant to customer's specifications. • Implement and perform monthly plant audit program for all welding processes. • Responsible to maintain continuity log/reports. • Help reduce costs through continuous improvement activities that improve safety, quality, and productivity. • Evaluate processes and procedures to maintain or improve weld parameters and weld efficiency. • Assist maintenance in troubleshoot welding equipment issues.
