Shop Welder Job Summary: Welder has the responsibility of welding and fabricating projects in a shop setting. Duties include cutting, fitting, tacking, welding, and grinding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Will also be assisting others in the fabrication process. Help maintain a clean and organized shop. Welder also inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, cleans, and maintains new and existing equipment and/or systems. It is essential for the Welder to be able to communicate with other team members and to ensure work is performed safely and efficiently. Roles and Responsibilities: Including but not limited to the list below. • Ability to position, layout, fit up, cut, and weld material in accordance to shop drawings and directions from supervisor. • Work safely in a shop setting around heavy equipment including ironworkers, press brakes, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc. • Maintain tools as required to perform job. • Performing all job duties following company safety rules and proper use of all personal protective equipment. • Load and unload equipment and materials. • Operate tooling and equipment such as a torch, plasma arc cutter, grinder, pipe bender, etc. Skills and Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED preferred. Any vocational training is strongly desired.· Those with an education and/or work-related credential from a secondary or post-secondary educational system will be given preferred interview status (Precision Exams, NOCTE, etc.) • 1 year or more of welding/fabrication work experience at meets or exceeds performance expectations. • Frequent use of basic hand and measurement tools. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to get to and from work. • Have an understanding of engineering drawings and welding symbols. • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Ability to detect unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment and work environment. • Ability to read and interpret all AWS basic weld symbols and typical welding symbols. • Comprehend a Bill of Material to determine necessary materials and requirements. • 1-2 years welding experience preferred. Physical Requirements: • Able and willing to work long hours including day, night, weekend shifts as needed, and work outside of normal hours. • Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks. • Able to walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, crouch, and able to lift up-to 50 or more pounds frequently. • Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
