Job Overview • Swing Shift from 3:15 pm to 1:45 am. • Primary focus on a safe work environment and employing safe work practices on a consistent basis. • Perform a variety of welding and cutting applications (including air arcing). • Lay out and perform complex repairs with a high level of accuracy and quality. • Assess equipment repair needs and developing repair processes. • Troubleshoot, maintain and perform minor repairs to most assigned tooling; wire feeders and welding machines. • Work in a diverse team environment. • Work efficiently and productively at all times to maintain a billable rate according to department and company objectives. • Minimize loss/spoilage of raw or in process materials. Key Job Responsibilities • Proficient at Carbon Arc Gouging & Oxy/Fuel Torch • Understand Weld Symbols & proficient at Print Reading • Certified Rigging & overhead crane experience • Proficient at Fitting/Layout • Experience with a variety of welding electrodes. • Experience with carbon arc gouging. • Must be able to pass a weld certification according to Joy Global/Komatsu Quality standards. • Ability to apply advanced trades mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions). Simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, wiring diagrams. • Ability to interpret complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and handbook formulas. • Ability to use all varieties of precision measuring instruments. • Ability to analyze and update reports, forms, records, and comparable methods of data collection/communication tools. • Mechanical aptitude and ability to read and understand machinist-measuring instruments. Qualifications/Requirements • Approximately 3+ years of experience with carbon arc gouging and FCAW welding electrodes, predominately 1/16" and 3/32" diameter. • Must pass 1" weld certification test (1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G) with FCAW within 90-days of hire. Heavy Equipment Mechanic / Welder

Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource in the largest private mining land package in the U.S. The mine is located in White Pine County, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world, along the southern extension of the prolific Carlin trend. Bald Mountain and the nearby Round Mountain mine make up Kinross’ Nevada operations. Bald Mountain is an important contributor to the economy of northeastern Nevada and maintains a comprehensive environmental strategy including wildlife protection, habitat recovery and education. Job Summary The Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Welder is responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of mining equipment, as well as performing structural welding and fabrication tasks as needed. While this role ideally suits an experienced mechanic with strong welding capabilities, we welcome applicants with significant experience in either field and a willingness to further develop both skill sets. The position requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, welding techniques, and safety practices while ensuring minimal downtime for equipment and compliance with Kinross' safety and operational standards. Work Schedule This position follows a rotating 5/4 schedule, alternating between day and night shifts. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed is required. Essential Functions • Adhere to all MSHA and Bald Mountain safety policies and procedures. • Perform mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on mobile mining equipment, including haul trucks, graders, dozers, water trucks, shovels, and drills. • Conduct structural welding and fabrication on heavy equipment, including crack repair and metal buildup in line with OEM or AWS welding procedures. • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to minimize downtime and support optimal equipment availability. • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic issues. • Use welding and cutting equipment to fabricate or repair components. • Read and interpret technical schematics, repair manuals, and welding diagrams. • Create and maintain accurate work records, including work orders and turnover notes. • Must maintain a personal set of hand tools suitable for the role (up to ¾” drive); the company will provide specialized tools and equipment. • Support continuous improvement and site safety initiatives. • Coordinate with other maintenance personnel to ensure efficient and safe repairs. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. • Perform other duties as assigned to support maintenance operations and business needs. Qualifications and Skill Requirements • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance, welding, or a combination of both. • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, and powertrain systems. • Welding experience required; formal certification preferred but not required. • Ability to safely perform basic welding tasks using arc, MIG, TIG, and oxyacetylene techniques. • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical and welding schematics. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Must have a valid driver's license and be able to operate service trucks, forklifts, and other support equipment. • Must maintain a personal set of hand tools suitable for the role (up to ¾” drive); the company will provide specialized tools and equipment. • Strong work ethic, reliability, and a commitment to safety. • Comfortable working outdoors and in varying environmental conditions. • Must be at least 18 years old and currently authorized to work full-time in the United States. • Valid driver's license is required.
