JOB SUMMARY: Uses hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components, fill holes, indentations, or seams of fabricated metal products ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Analyze engineering draws, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Develop templates & models for welding projects, using mathematical calculations based on blueprint information. • Position, align, secure parts & assemblies prior to assembly by using straight edges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers. • Prepare al material surfaces to be welded, ensuring there is no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter. • Ignite torches or start power supplies and strike arcs by touching electrodes to metals being welded, completing electrical circuits. Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding & submerged arc welding. • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Join pats such as beams &steel reinforcing rods in buildings, bolting and riveting as necessary • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment. Clean or degrease parts, using wire brushes and portable grinders or chemical baths. • Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Work Experience: 2+ years welding/fitting experience Education: Highschool diploma/ GED or equivalent Related Experience: • Proficient with hand and power tools • Ability to read a tape measure • Attention to detail • General mathematical skills • General knowledge construction techniques and standards • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks; keep up in a fast-paced environment • Ability to communicate technical information to team members and/or customers • Proficient understanding of engineering drawings and blueprints • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills • Welding experience with modular buildings and solar power conversion skids WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee sometimes works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to excessive noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, and heights. When participating in activities on the shop floor, the noise level in the work environment is typical for a fabrication shop and ear plugs may be used as necessary. Welder 1 - MFG

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Welding and fabrication using oxyacetylene or electric welding equipment. • Lay out, cut, file, and prepare materials for welding. • Fabricates a variety of regular and irregular parts. • Perform various fit up and welding processes in all positions. • Use plasma torch for trimming fittings. • Verify conformance of work piece to specifications. • Other duties as assigned. • Must be able to work with minimal supervision. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide on the job training to new employees as needed. • Follow all safety and health policies and procedures issued by the company. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. • Ability to read tape measure accurately. • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery and computers. • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds required. • Forklift certification preferred. • Basic press skills preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials up to 50 pounds. Machinery and tool operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel toed work boots, and gloves.
