Job Summary The Welder performs MIG welding of metal parts, ranging from simple to complex tasks. This position requires knowledge of the welding properties of various metals and alloys and the ability to use welding equipment to ensure proper penetration and fusion strength. The welder interprets shop drawings and blueprints, maintaining close tolerances on all work performed. Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following: • Must be able to use the necessary welding jigs. • Interprets shop drawings and blueprints and operation tickets and holds work to close tolerances. • Must be able to use the necessary welding jigs. • Must be able to set machine for type material to be welded. • Must observe proper safety precautions while welding. • Should meet production standard output under only general supervision on or before end of progression period. Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills Required: • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Requires 1 year+ experience and/or combination of experience and technical training/certification. Associated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Must be able to read, write, accurately read a tape measure, and perform basic mathematical calculations. • Able to work independently to maintain production, efficiency, quality and discipline. • Must use appropriate skills, required equipment, and tools, and accurately read and interpret blueprints. • Must work with minimal supervision and maximum initiative to assure that the job gets done in a timely and effective manner. • Must indicate talent and desire and ability to acquire necessary skills and knowledge of required techniques and procedures. Working Environment & Conditions/Physical Requirements • Wear required PPE, including steel toed safety shoes, at all times, follow 6S procedures, participate in preventative injury exercises, and comply with all job-related work instructions. • Install siding on racks, often working in position of reaching overhead, squatting, bending and working on top of units. • Maximum weight to lift normally up to 60 lbs., peak of 75 lbs. • Must be able to work up to 12 hours/day, 7 days/week as required.
