Welder Night Shift Retention Bonus $1,500 and 80 hours of Paid Time Off after first 90 days of employment Job Summary Lay out, fit, and weld metal components to assemble beds, frames, and small parts work orders. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Actively observe and promote BWise safety standards • Analyze drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operation. • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies according to specifications, using a variety of measuring tools. • Tack-weld or welds component and assemblies using welding equipment. • Monitor welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material. • Detect faulty operation of equipment or defective materials and notify supervisor. • Evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications. • Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances using appropriate measuring instruments. • Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinder or hand file. • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. • Ignite torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc. • Other duties, as assigned by Welding Supervisor. PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT • Must be capable of standing for entire shift and sit for extended periods of time. • Able to lift up to 50 lbs; ability to demonstrate full range of motion for reaching, bending, kneeling and stooping. • Will be exposed to extreme heat and cold depending on weather. • Subject to dirt, dust, oil, welding fumes, electric shock, bright lights, UV radiation, burns, traffic hazards, and high noise levels in the workplace. Ppe Requirements • Steel-toed shoes or composite shoes • Safety glasses • Earplugs • Gloves when handling any material • Welding Helmet (Company doesn’t provide helmet but provides all consumables including lenses.) • Grinding shield • Welding sleeves Minimum Qualifications & Requirements • High School Diploma or GED. • Must be able to read, write, count, communicate by various channels. • Must have appropriate high school, vocational-technology school, or trade school training/certification in welding and/or demonstrated ability/expertise from on-the-job training from previous employment. • Understand fundamentals of metallurgy as they relate to welding. • Ability to read a tape measure. • Ability to read and fully comprehend work instructions, prints, and work specifications.

Education/Experience Requirements: • Minimum Associate Weld Engineering Degree • AWS Certified Weld Inspector • 7 Years Previous Robot Welder Programmer, Set-up and Operator Experience • 7 Years Previous Manual Weld Experience • Experience with Pipe/Tube Welding • AWS D1.1 Weld Certification Preferred • Previous Manufacturing experience • Able to Pass Testing Requirements • Weld Helmet Required (Helmet supplies provided by company) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements: • Knowledge and use of inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, indicators, bore gages, height gages, etc. • Knowledge of reading blueprints, diagrams and schematics • Knowledge of understand geometric tolerances • Skilled in writing Robot Weld programs • General understanding of grades of steel, aluminum, cast iron, etc. • Ability to problem solve and to multi-task and support and organize various projects at the same time • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (helmet, face-shield, gloves, jacket, etc.) • Ability to maneuver large, heavy parts with overhead crane • Ability to withstand exposure to extreme heat • Ability to work in an environment that has some dirt and dust, weld fumes and moderate noise • Ability to interact professionally with customers, vendors, visitors and co-workers. • Ability to work independently • Ability to read and comprehend technical information at a 12th grade level • Ability to take initiatives to improve efficiencies and procedures • Any other knowledge, skills or abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of the position Job Description: · Review the product standard to be used, together with any supplementary/customer requirements. · Review the parent material specification and welded joint properties, like quality and acceptance requirements for welds. · Review the location, accessibility, and sequence of welds, including accessibility for inspection and non-destructive testing. · Review the drawings, weld profile the dimensions and details of joint preparation and completed weld. · Establish appropriate procedure specifications for welding and allied processes. · Authorize the welding procedures, the method and establish range of qualification. · Establish the sequence in which the welds are to be made & conditions (e.g. protection from wind, temperature and rain). · Authorize work instructions, the issuing and use of work instructions on the shop floor. · Select suitable welding and associated equipment/facility required to produce the parts. · Confirm suitable arrangement for preheating and post-heat treatment, including temperature indicators. · Ensure personal protective equipment and other safety equipment applicable for the manufacturing process. · Verify the suitability and validity of welders and welding operators qualification certificates. · Preparation of weld plan and welder skill matrix. · Verify the allocation of qualified personnel on respective jobs & machines. · Coordinate for any production test. · Verify the compatibility, delivery conditions, welding consumable inspection document, the storage and handling of welding consumables. · In process surveillance and process compliance with the approved procedures. · Visual examination & coordination for NDT & destructive testing (CWI Certificate) · Coordination and knowledge transfer with other manufacturing locations of Wipro for weld related improvements. · Recommend the necessary measures and actions with regard to non-conformance and corrective actions (e.g. weld repairs, re-assessment of repaired welds, corrective actions) · The preparation and maintenance of the necessary quality records (including subcontracted activities) · Conduct root cause analysis and recommend the corrective actions in case of weld failures. · Contribute in continuous improvement in quality, productivity & cost reduction drives. • Inspection, Safety and Other • Follow WPS-Weld Procedure Specifications for each job • Complete necessary production and inspection records • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws • Move long, large, heavy parts using overhead crane • * Troubleshoot problematic issues and provide resolutions • Interact with Supervisor to optimize productivity and eliminate downtime • Monitor weld wire, safety equipment and supplies and notify purchasing when they are needed to be purchased • Train and assist new welders as necessary • Work Overtime as needed • Report any maintenance issue requiring repair or replacement • Report any safety or hazard issue
