We are looking for qualified off shift Welders. Pay range of $26.78-$28.82, with an additional $2.00 per hour when working 2nd shift and $1.50 per hour when working the 3rd shift.You will perform a variety of tank car repairs according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches. You will utilize various equipment and technology including air arc cutting torches and stick or wire welding, grinding tools, I Pads, etc. Primary Job Functions This is not an exhaustive list and employees in these classifications frequently may be required to perform additional duties. Not all classifications will be required to perform all job functions. • Welds components related to tank cars including tanks, bolsters, underframes, side sills, etc. • Performs welded repairs by utilizing air arc cutting torch and stick or wire welding equipment. • Uses hand tools and equipment to chip and grind weld, slag or spatter. • Repairs, straightens, removes, reworks car parts, brakes, underframes, center plates, gears, couplers, valves, etc. using various hand and power tools. • Performs welding and mechanical repairs to tank and hopper cars when required. • Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner and reports potential hazards. Knowledge and Skills Required • Must pass the applicable welding test, as prescribed by the company. • Must possess a High School Diploma/GED; or have the ability to successfully complete an on-site basic skills assessment. • Must possess job-related knowledge; for example, ability to follow work instructions on a document, ability to read a ruler and tape measure, ability to use hand tools. • Must be dependable and maintain good attendance; must have reliable transportation; must be able to work scheduled work shifts including overtime. • Welding experience or education is required. • Must be able to successfully complete pre-employment drug & alcohol testing, position-specific examinations, background screening, and education verifications. Environmental and Working Conditions • Must be able to enter and work in confined spaces. • Must be able to work from heights equivalent to the top of tank/railcars. • Moderate to heavy physical effort involved. Lifts and carries necessary equipment to car to perform operation. Climbs, walks, and balances on top of car while welding. • Possibility of exposure to x-ray radiation hazards. • Must follow prescribed safety rules to avoid possible injury. • Uses hand tools and equipment to chip and grind off excess weld slag or spatter. Clean Harbors Weymouth, MA is looking for a Certified Welder/Fabricator to add to our Weymouth, MA team. Our shop has multiple cooling fans (called port-a-cool) and a large fan in the ceiling. The facility specializes in the rebuilding of Heavy-Duty Diesel Tank Trucks. The Refurbishment welder/fabricator are primarily responsible for rebuilding and refurbishing our fleet of Tank Trucks, daily tasks include MIG and TIG welding. Welding and fabricating sub frames, bumpers, fall protection on tanks, welding pipe and fabricating/welding mount bracket supports.
