Summary This vacancy is for a WG - 3806 - 08/10, Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft) located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center, Medium Range Surveillance Product Line (MRS), Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Responsibilities Developing patterns and templates lay out, cutting, forming, joining, assembling, and installing various aircraft metal structures. Evaluating structural damage to sheet metal systems, structures or items in order to plan and layout, repair and modification projects involving many different honeycomb materials, and alloys. Demonstrating or explaining proper techniques, methods of operation, and safety practices. Bending or forming items to a variety of angles or curves with varying pitch or circumference. At the WG-08 level, will perform intermediate level aircraft sheet metal mechanic tasks by assisting in developing patterns for the installation of various aircraft metal structures. Duties may include; evaluating structural damage; examining aircraft hulls, and metal structures; and sing complicated measuring instruments and shop mathematics to figure irregular cures, angles, and pitch. As experience is gained, the employee will be expected to perform additional tasks with increasing proficiency and independence. Aircraft Mechanic I /Sheet Metal/ Temporary

Yulista Support Services LLCTemporary PRIMARY FUNCTION The Aircraft Mechanic I troubleshoots malfunctions, repairs, and modifies aircraft structures and structural components. This worker reads and interprets technical maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical orders, blueprints, sketches, engineering data and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctions or damaged components. This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds damage to aircraft structures or sheet metal systems, such as wings and fuselage and functional components including rigging and surface controls, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, rivet guns and drills. The mechanic will examine and prepare parts and items to locate defects; will prepare defective surfaces for successive operations by sanding, scraping, applying prepared solvents, and cleaning agents. The mechanic will be required to follow work orders, as assigned by the Program Manager. All work is subject to Government Quality Assurance (QA) review in process and upon completion for compliance with requirements, instructions, specifications, shop practices and procedures. The mechanic shall work independently and complete all repairs and modifications in a timely manner: with minimal rework or discrepancies noted. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Interface with Crew lead and other Technicians as required. • Install sheet metal & structures IAW instructions/drawings. • Install sheet metal & structures as required meeting customer needs. • Perform continuity and power checks. • Remove, inspect, repair, and reinstall aircraft parts/systems. • Annotate logbook and workbook entries IAW Coast Guard Manuals or other contractual guidance. • Maintain a high state of cleanliness and utilize a clean-as-you-go process when executing maintenance duties. • Comply with processes and procedures as per DHS/Department of Defense (DOD) documents and publications. • Comply with safety rules and regulations while performing day to day maintenance. Promptly report all accidents, injuries, safety, violations, and/or unsafe practices or procedures to supervisor. • Other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position does not have direct reports. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: • Ability to demonstrate work methods and techniques. • Ability to read, understand and apply trade or administrative guides such as technical manuals, technical orders, blueprints, sketches, and other related documents. • Ability to lift, reach, bend, walk, pull, sit, stand, crouch, stoop, kneel and stretch for prolonged periods of time. May be required to work in cramped, awkward, and strained positions or required to climb ladders, work platforms, scaffolding and aircraft structures. • Knowledge, skill, and ability to follow appropriate safety procedures common to the trade. • Knowledge of specific hazardous materials and hazardous wastes procedures is necessary, including the proper fitting and usage of protective gear and completion of related training. • Must be able to carry items up to 40 pounds or heavier with assistance from other workers or weightlifting devices. • May be required to wear cumbersome personal protective equipment (PPE) and clothing for Hazardous Material operations. • Specialized experience in aviation sheet metal repair and experience related to USCG aircraft specific models is highly desirable. • Familiarity with Airbus Helicopters Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) manuals or similar OEM manuals with the ability to research maintenance history, procedures and component limitations is desired. • Technical capability/experience with aircraft, airframes, components, and substructures. Should include maintenance of primary, secondary, and tertiary structures. • Technical capability to assist in planned depot maintenance of USCG aviation assets. • Technical capability to deal with aircraft upgrades and aging aircraft sustainment issues. Experience with new component integration and developing repair or replacement strategies for airframes, components and/or substructures. • Capability to work in regulated areas with toxic materials present including hexavalent chromium and cadmium. This will include use of PPE such as protective clothing, respirator, etc. QUALIFICATIONS: • High School diploma or equivalent • Experience with USCG MH65 aircraft is highly desirable. • Experience in aircraft sheet metal structures to include maintenance and repair with a minimum of five years practical experience. • Ability to conduct research using USCG data systems such as Technical Manual Application System (TMAPS) and Microsoft Office Suite, or similar type systems.
