Sheet Metal Mechanic

Key Responsibilities: • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or project specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing products, materials, and equipment required to complete project to which the mechanic is assigned. • Selects appropriate materials and method of installation, according to project specifications. • Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts or uses templates. • Sets up and operates fabricating machines, tools, and equipment. • Installs work according to blueprints and in conformance with specifications. • Works with project manager and field superintendent to ensure that work is installed according to schedule and quality is maintained. • Maintains accurate job log of construction activities and project documentation. • Ensures assigned crew accurately completes timesheets and forwarded to payroll coordinator. • Oversees, instructs, and mentors new employees (mostly helpers). • Complies with company policies and procedures, especially safety rules. • Repairs and maintains sheet metal products. Qualifications: • Minimum of 4–6 years commercial or industrial sheet metal experience. • Proficient in reading blueprints, layouts, and mechanical drawings. • Ability to fabricate, assemble, and install rectangular, round, and oval duct systems per SMACNA standards. • Knowledge of duct pressure classifications and proper sealing and support methods. • Competent in using hand and power tools such as snips, drills, nibblers, crimpers, and impact drivers. • Capable of field measuring, ordering ductwork, and performing air leakage testing. • Strong commitment to safety and compliance with OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Sheet Metal Foreman

Responsible for sheet metal construction field installation activities with an emphasis on labor productivity, quality, timely installations, and teamwork. This requires close coordination with the project team. The position is also responsible for jobsite safety. Key Responsibilities: • Follows and ensures sheet metal staff follows procedures and policies. • Communicates with contractors on various projects to ensure they achieve quality and timely work. • Communicates with staff and provides status of the project. • Instructs sheet metal staff on techniques and procedures. • Plans, assigns, and reviews work of sheet metal staff engaged in the installation, modification, and/or repair of sheet metal systems. • Inspects work upon completion. • Acts as a working supervisor in cutting, assembling, and installing ductwork, including: • (Single and double wall round and flat oval spiral or flanged; standing S, slip and drive rectangular or round snap lock; flexible duct) • Sealing the duct to specified requirements. • Understanding of duct pressure classifications. • Performing HVAC air duct leakage test. • Field measure and order duct. • Assist with daily reports. Qualifications: • Minimum 10 years’ industrial/commercial sheet metal experience. • Read/interpret documents and write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to solve practical problems, including variety of variables in situations. • Ability to interpret a instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schematic form. • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, and the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. • Tools required.
