Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Plumbing & HVAC Estimator with experience in commercial and industrial plumbing & HVAC systems. This position is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for projects, analyzing blueprints and specifications, determining material, labor, and time requirements, and collaborating with project managers and clients to ensure successful project bidding and execution. Duties • Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and industrial plumbing & HVAC projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor quotes, and other costs. • Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings to assess conditions and gather relevant information. • Identify and evaluate project risks and opportunities during the bidding phase. • Develop take-offs using software and/or manual methods for plumbing fixtures, piping, valves, equipment, and accessories. • Develop take-offs using software and/or manual methods for HVAC ductwork, piping, equipment, and accessories. • Communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing. • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to clarify project scope and resolve discrepancies. • Assist in value engineering efforts and suggest cost-saving alternatives. • Prepare and submit bid proposals in a timely manner. • Track and manage bids, monitor awarded contracts, and provide feedback for future estimating improvements. • Stay current on market trends, material costs, and construction practices. Qualifications • 3+ years of experience as an estimator in commercial and/or industrial plumbing & HVAC. • Strong knowledge of plumbing & HVAC systems, codes, and installation methods. • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, and specifications. • Experience with estimating software (e.g., Trimble, QuickBooks Estimator, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar). • Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates under tight deadlines. • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey information to stakeholders.
