FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of high school and five years experience in the plumbing trade or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of water and waste disposal systems. Employee shall hold a valid plumbing license. APPLICANT MUST UPLOAD: 1. All applicants must upload proof of High School Graduate: HR will accept a legible copy of a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or college transcripts in PDF format. 2. Resume' DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Installs, maintains and repairs valves, faucets, traps, sinks, lavatories, sewers, vents and other sanitary fixtures. Acts as working supervisor in measuring, cutting, threading, assembling, and installing pipes and tubing. Tests finished jobs by allowing water to flow through. Analyzes defects or malfunctions in plumbing systems. Eliminates leaks by repacking valves, replacing faulty fittings or sections in lines. Evaluates and performs work on storm water and roof drain systems to correct flooding issues. Replaces worn parts – pumps, traps, valves, etc. Performs maintenance work on heating systems as requested by HVAC Foreman including safety devices and controls on boiler plant. Flushes and cleans boilers and related apparatus. Assists in installing replacement boilers and installs water heaters. Maintains water systems at schools having wells, pumps and storage tanks. Possesses working knowledge of the techniques, methods, tools and safety precautions of the plumbing trade. Understands and works from oral or written instructions, blueprints and specifications. Estimates time and material. Provides leadership by assigning work to crew members, reviewing work, making corrections as needed, and demonstrating desired skills, techniques and procedures employed in the plumbing trade. Coordinates work with other trades. Acts as plumbing foreman in his absence. Attends and successfully completes all training activities as required to improve ability and knowledge in performance of work duties. Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing fairness. Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee must be able to demonstrate the following physical demands to safely and productively perform the essential functions of the Plumber position. The job requires constant walking/standing on level and uneven terrains and material handling/tool use; frequent work from below grade to overhead, climbing and pushing/pulling; and occasional sitting/driving. The employee must be able to lift/carry 20 lbs constantly, 50 lbs frequently and 110 lbs occasionally. The employee must be able to occasionally push/pull up to 120 lbs/force. The employee must be able to work in confined spaces requiring entry to 24” x 24” crawl spaces occasionally. The employee must be able to tolerate the above job demands on a regular schedule and as assigned. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.
