Position Summary: Performs maintenance and repair work on building's heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems and building systems and equipment as assigned by the Building and Grounds supervisor. May be required to install new systems; can perform assigned tasks alone and may supervise others. Education, License & Cert: High school diploma or equivalency required, with 1‐2 years of experience in plant maintenance. Experience: • Ability and interest to work with varied pipe fittings and plumbing duties. • Experience with hand tools, small power tools, and their proper use. • Ability to read and understand pertinent equipment instruction and maintenance manuals. • Capable of cool, deliberate, and calculated action in response Essential Functions: • Monitors and maintains city water, domestic hot water, piped gases, sanitary sewer and other piped drains, repairs these and other piped systems in all buildings. • Maintains clear drains of all types on schedule or as needed basis using power auger, hand or appropriate drain cleaning agents. • Cleans on a scheduled or as required basis: Dietary grease traps, Surgery and Emergency Room cast traps, and x‐ray barium trap or others. • Monitors pressure and temperatures of potable water systems throughout the hospital and other buildings. • Monitors and cleans the Laboratory drain interceptor/neutralizer tank on a scheduled basis. • Maintains and adjusts water levels of all drinking fountains. • Maintains appropriate level of inventory: orders fittings, piping, and other related equipment as needed. • Adheres to all departmental and organizational policies and procedures. • Preventive maintenance as assigned.
