Job Description: Position: General Contractor Location: Fort Smith, AR A mission-driven, faith-based nonprofit organization is seeking a General Contractor to lead residential construction projects in Fort Smith, Arkansas. About the Role: The General Contractor will oversee construction projects from start to finish—managing day-to-day operations on residential job sites, supervising volunteers, and ensuring projects are completed on time and to quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to serving others in a faith-based setting. Key Responsibilities: • Manage all aspects of residential construction job sites • Supervise and guide volunteers, many of whom have little to no construction experience • Prepare job sites with a focus on safety, organization, and efficiency • Maintain timelines, budgets, and high-quality building standards • Communicate clearly and positively with staff, vendors, partner families, and the community • Represent the values and mission of the organization both on and off the job site Ideal Candidate Will: • Be a self-motivated leader with strong organizational skills • Have residential construction experience and knowledge of building codes and safety procedures • Be confident instructing and encouraging volunteers of all skill levels • Be dependable, honest, and dedicated to service • Be comfortable working in a faith-based environment where compassion, humility, and integrity are key values • Be bilingual (English/Spanish preferred) to better serve a diverse group of volunteers and families • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills Additional Requirements: • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation • Willingness to work Saturdays and adjust schedule as needed • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions Candidate Requirements: • Must have a clean background (no felony convictions) • Must pass a pre-employment drug test • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently • Must have at least 4 years of verifiable work history in construction • Must have a stable work history (no more than 3 jobs in the past 5 years) • Must provide an up-to-date resume Pay: Pay is competitive and based on experience.
