Construction General Laborers (Hammond, LA)

United Trades of America is looking for Construction General Laborers for the Hammond, Louisiana area. Pay rate is based upon experience. LOCALS ONLY, NO PER DIEM We are seeking individuals with experience in the construction industry as a general laborer. Must be able to work in all different weather conditions, not scared of heights, and can lift at least 55 lbs. Tier 2 Pipe Laborer

Description Essential Functions: • Dig trenches with equipment and/or tools. • Slide pipe into trenches. • Direct the Operator where to move the pipe to insure the pipe lay correctly in the ground. • Insure spaces are inserted in between pipes. • Cut pipes to required length. • Operate mechanized equipment, such as front-end loaders or backhoes. • Tie pipes into catch basins. • Inspect places where pipes are fitted together to ensure pipes are spaced out properly and according to specifications. • Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. • Grade trenches or culverts. • Seal pipe joints. • Use glue or welding equipment to ensure pipes are tightly fitted. • Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned using grade rods or transit levels. • Cover pipes with dirt or other material. Requirements Special Position Requirements: 2 years experience understanding of pipelaying process Ability to be able to read grade rod Ability to be able to set up pipe laser and rotating laser Proficient in pipelaying process for all types of pipe Failure to follow procedures or company policy will result in disciplinary action, loss of position and/or termination.
