Heavy Highway Construction Laborer

Experienced Construction Laborer Barber Brothers Contracting Co., LLC, a civil construction contractor located in Baton Rouge, LA, is seeking Experienced Construction Laborers for various projects in and around the area. This is a great career opportunity for a hard working professional looking to join an established organization. The ideal candidate will have a passion for construction and have an appreciation for the fast paced environment of our industry. We are looking for experienced general and skilled laborers with knowledge of tools and equipment including rollers, tampers, measuring tapes and other equipment as necessary per the job. Must also have a willingness to work outdoors in various conditions, including hot and cold weather. The duties of the Construction Laborer position involve physical labor at highway and heavy construction projects. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials. • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy/highway construction projects. • Performs manual work in preparing surfaces for paving. • Level asphalt/aggregate to grade specifications using rakes, shovels and trowels • Excavates and fills trenches and ditches. • Maintains a clean job site: picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards. • Performs materials handling and storage. • Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials. • Measure, mark, paint and stake per measurements for grade and pave operations. • Operates equipment such as asphalt saw, concrete saw, chain saw and other power tools to remove asphalt and debris. • Follows direction of foreman as to daily tasks and expectations. • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. • Works within a team and complete other duties as assigned. Qualifications Include: • Two Years Construction Experience. • Heavy Highway Experience a Plus. • High School Diploma/GED. • Successful completion of pre-employment background and drug screen. We are currently recruiting for a Construction Foreman to be based out of the Washington DC area reporting to our Manassas, VA office. Our projects include new structure construction, including PT & rebar installation (stressing and grouting), bridge inspection/repair, unbonded PT repair, barrier cable installation and repair, FRP installation, bridge jacking/bearing replacement, and more. As a successful candidate, you will also be responsible for: • Leadership on field projects of various sizes. Resolving discrepancies as needed. • Established dedication to safety and ability to display commitment to our operating principles • Experience in schedule and task management. • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the customer, crew, and project teams • Intermediate computer skills and construction math skills Anticipated pay for this role starts at $40-45/hr based off education and experience.
