Examination is announced to establish an employment list to fill a vacancy to perform administrative and technical work at the management level, overseeing the operations of the Construction Development Department and the consistent, code-compliant growth and planning within the City of Alexandria. Supervises and evaluates staff; enforces policies and procedures, including established safety procedures; monitors required certification and training. Directs staff inspecting for code compliance and in construction permitting of residential and commercial structures relating to building, electrical, plumbing, gas, mechanical, storm water management, and construction activities; ensures compliance with and enforcement of nationally recognized building codes and local ordinances. Provides technical assistance and information to citizens, property owners, land developers, staff, and City officials regarding inspection procedures and plan deficiencies; responds to complaints and explains departmental procedures.
