WHY DO WE NEED YOU? The Production Machinist II position sets-up and operates a variety of machine tools to fit and/or assemble parts to machine given jobs. Operates conventional and/or computerized numerical control machines to perform grinding operations, and make straightforward, repetitive adjustments to components. This position is also responsible to set-up and operate assorted conventional/computerized shop machining equipment to produce, grind, mill, plane, shape, groove, cut, or profile various types of wheels/parts to specifications. What you will be doing in this role: • Must be able to work in a self- inspection environment and be able to meet demands of common LEAN/WCM practices such as data collection, meeting daily output goals, and 5S standards. • Must be able to machine various raw and partially finished materials and products, (i.e., metals, resin, aluminum, steels, alloys, and other composite materials/systems and diamond wheels and hold tolerances of .0005” or less. • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, program readouts, and technical directives to determine and obtain materials and cutting tools for the job and to visualize the finished part and critical surfaces, dimensions, and tolerances. • High level of problem solving and decision making ability. • Must know, understand and follow common machine shop safety practices as well as those outlined by SGA. • Able to handle multiple and diverse tasks with minimum or no supervision: willingness to be flexible with job responsibilities andworking hours. • Practice safe work habits, maintain equipment and work areas in a 5S environment. • Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment is required. • Able to read and understand verbal and written instructions and possess good communication skills. • Supports World Class Manufacturing activities including autonomous work teams. • Must be able to determine appropriate set-ups and operation parameters (speeds, feeds, etc.) based on the type of material to be machined and the tolerances desired: and maintain dimensions and tolerances to meet job specifications. Requirements: • HS diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years machining experience and/or training preferred. • Knowledge of basic trade mathematics, computer skills, and ability to read blueprints and understanding of machinist handbook. • Technical school training, apprenticeship program or equivalent work experience operating CNC machines and other metal fabricating machines may be required. Physical Demands/Efforts • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. • Frequently required to stand for extended periods, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with arms and talk or hear. • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and smell.
