CNC Machinist

Responsibilities: • Under the direction of a supervisor and/ or experienced machinist, responsible for the output of quality parts produced on CNC lathes in a safe and timely manner. • Load parts utilizing overhead lifting equipment or material transfer/ loader best suited for the job. • Use fixtures to locate part into position and make correct offsets to machine. • Confirm setup is correct, then starts and observes machine operation to detect possible malfunction prior to machine run. • Read and understand blue print and supporting documents to know and understand part dimensions and tolerance requirements prior to running part. Adjust machine offset if needed to ensure part is in tolerance. • Ensure tooling and fixture at machine is maintained and stored in orderly fashion. Keep machine and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance function on equipment. • Perform other work related task as assigned. • Comply with all NOV Company, HSE and QTS policies and procedures. Qualifications/Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Previous experience in manufacturing environment considered an asset. • Previous experience in oilfield considered an asset. • Basic Math (Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide, Fractions). We are Dover Precision Components, #LifeAtDPC Summary: This position will lead and develop a vision and direction for shop floor goals and objectives for future growth. Directs and coordinates activities of production department(s) in processing and manufacturing products by performing the following duties. Responsibilities: • Organize and assign work to utilize available skills, knowledge and experience, man-hours, and production equipment to obtain the most favorable cost, quality and workmanship consistent with production schedules. • Review work schedules and determine priorities. Assign personnel as necessary to produce required number and types of products and components. Recommend overtime work as required to meet schedules and company goals. Work closely with Planner/Scheduler, Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing Engineering to achieve production goals. Reassign team members to other areas as needed to fill in for vacations, absences or rush orders. • Check on work in progress to assure the meeting of quality standards. Assist with the resolution of CARs and MRR’s as necessary. In the absence of the Quality Control Technician, perform first piece inspection for other employees. Assist team members in interpreting drawings and specifications as required. • Coach, train, motivate and mentor subordinates. Participate in new employee selection and hiring. Perform performance assessments for the hourly team members and Team Leaders. Administer disciplinary actions as needed to ensure compliance with company policies and directives. • Work with maintenance department to arrange for the maintenance and repair of production equipment to minimize delays. • Monitor the work performance of off-shift factory team members to ensure employee’s skill levels meet company expectations. Work with off-shift Team Leaders to ensure accurate scheduling. • Recommend employees for further training to improve the employee’s skill level in accordance with company expectations. • Maintain an orderly and safe work environment. Provide instruction and guidance to workers in the proper and safe working habits. Work with Safety Coordinator in conducting accident investigations and complete accident reports as required. Will be part of first responder to accident/injuries. • Evaluate and monitor discrepant material levels from factory with regard to; product quality and defect prevention, product disposition, rework, repair, and defect data analysis in order to maintain customer and company quality standards. • Support overall ISO procedures and QMS by coaching and training employees. • Suggest methods improvements or alternate methods and materials to reduce costs and/or improve quality. • On rotating weekends, unlock plant and supervise for jobs required close and lock plant at end of operations as needed. • Must be able to support training in Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping, process flow, set up reduction, 5S, standard work, etc. Must be self-motivated and possess facilitation skills to be used in a team setting. • Review countermeasures and assign appropriate resources to implement corrective actions through the T-card process and VSM boards. • Request, coordinate and implement engineering changes in order to reduce costs, improve quality or generate other types of process improvements. • Actively participate in the improvement process with responsibilities including any preparation work, actual improvement activities and follow up activities/action items generated from Kaizen events, countermeasure sheets, T-cards as required. • Managing and coordinating resources to assure completion of projects and “do-it” type items generated through improvement events – this position is responsible for managing the project lists generated through improvement activities for the assigned focused factory. • Initiates, evaluates and implements continuous process improvement activities and action items through involvement of all team members. Track and report ideas submitted, implemented and associated savings in time, material or improvements in safety and quality. • Maintains a positive attitude in order to positively influence the process improvement activities throughout the organization Qualifications: Requires an associate’s degree and 5 - 7 years of experience in the field. Minimum of 5 – 7 years as a production supervisor position. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Requires in-depth manufacturing processes knowledge of close tolerance work involving the interpretation of complex prints and drawings plus the ability to instruct others in machining practices. • Ability to solve complex problems utilizing the tools appropriate to the task, train machinists on technical and lean aspects. • Ability to manage and resolve interpersonal conflict. • Must be fluent with Microsoft excel, word and power point. CNC Machinist(NIGHT SHIFT)

NIGHTS Overtime weekly 3PM-3AM Must have 3-5 years of experience in CNC machining CNC Machinist -Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Setup job(s) to be drilled. • Read and use machinist scales and indicators. • Maintain log of time spent on jobs. • Operate CNC drills and drill presses. • Create ring grooves and reams holes. • Check hole dimensions as required. • Sharpen drill bits. • Remove shavings as needed. • Refill coolant tank as needed. • Periodically replace oil/coolant in drills. • Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner, avoiding and reporting unsafe practices. • Performs internal quality control of drilling procedures and associated record-keeping and documentation. • Setup and perform jobs based on established shop procedures. • Able to make simple program modification at the controls. • Setup & build required machine tooling to complete the job • Assist in Tool Room and Shipping & Receiving as necessary and perform associated record keeping. • Maintain work area in a clean and orderly environment. • Other duties as assigned by supervision. Desired Experience: • Worked in a custom fabrication shop. • VMC (vertical machining center) or bridge mill experience a major plus. • Working knowledge of raw materials – know the difference between stainless steel, carbon, duplex, etc. is a plus.
