CNC Machinist II / III

Job Details Job Location Colorado Springs, CO Position Type Full Time Salary Range $26.00 - $38.00 Hourly Description SUMMARY Responsible for utilizing advanced machining skills to produce high-quality components. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of machining processes, the ability to generate, read, and interpret complex drawings, and a strong capability in both manual and CNC machining, including programming and coding. Key Responsibilities: • Perform complex machining operations on various machines such as Haas Lathe, Feeler, G&L, Femco Vertical Mills, and Femco HBC with minimal or no supervision. • Demonstrate strong lathe experience and engage in prototype machining, research and development, and reverse engineering tasks. • Utilize both manual machines and CNC machines, and apply conversational programming and CNC coding skills. • Set up and adjust machine controls and offsets, and monitor operations to detect and resolve malfunctions. • Periodically inspect parts during runs and after completion to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications. • Perform preventative maintenance practices on machines • Process all paperwork in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures. • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment. • Monitor job costing to ensure machining remains within acceptable limits relative to estimates. • Lead and mentor team members, promoting a positive attitude and teamwork. • Read and understand complex machining blueprints, and write simple machining programs on various controllers. • Ensure familiarity with base machines and apply prior machining and programming knowledge effectively. Qualifications Required Education: HS Diploma, GED or equivalent. Minimum of 10 years of related machine shop experience and/or training equivalent. Required Experience: • Prior work history or knowledge of setting up and running CNC machines • Able to read and understand complex machining blueprints • Able to write simple machining programs on several different controllers Preferred Experience: • Sets-up and runs complex machining operations on the Haas Lathe, Feeler, G&L, Femco Vertical Mills, and Femco HBC • Observes machine operation to detect malfunctions, adjust machine controls, and offsets with minimal or no supervision. • Ability to do prototype machining, R&D, and reverse engineering • Experience with manual machines, CNC machines, conversational programming, and CNC coding

Schedule: 1 and 2nd Shift Available 1st Shift = Monday thru Thursday 7:00am – 4:45pm (45 min lunch) Friday 7:00am – 11:00am 2nd Shift = Monday thru Thursday 4:00 pm to 2:45 am (45 min lunch) Salary: $19.00 to $25.00 Per Hour – Depending on Experience Job Description Summary: Responsible for operating CNC machines to cut metal and plastic parts making sure finished parts are within dimensions and tolerances listed on product drawings. Primary Responsibilities: • Ability to set up and calibrate fixtures prior to loading parts and programs. • Load materials, such as blocks of steel, aluminum, or plastic into CNC machines to be cut. • Download CNC programs and perform test operations to ensure parts are made to specifications. Consult supervisor about possible adjustments to operating speed based on vibrations and sounds. Ability to modify existing programs as needed. • Inspect fabricated part to make sure it is within dimensions and tolerances set. Communicate problems to supervisor and suggest improvements. • Responsible for deburring own parts • Safety, cleanliness of equipment and company product • Simple maintenance as required • Clean work area as needed Education/ Skills/Physical Job Requirements: • Three years’ minimum experience as a CNC Machinist. • Experience working with lathes is a plus. • Experience operating a surface grinder a plus • Experience working with HAAS machines is a plus. • Experience with “G” Code programming is a plus. • CNC Certification training a plus • Able to perform full setups and very light program editing at the machine. • Able to read drawings and/or job travelers. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. • Ability to read calipers, tape measures and micrometers. • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. • Wear Common Protective or Safety Equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, or Hearing Protection. • Spend long hours standing. • Time pressure and time management demands • Exposed to Contaminants (such as pollutants, gases, dust or odors). • Noise Level can be distracting or uncomfortable.
