Position Title: MANUFACTURING TEAM LEADER - MEDIUM MILL MACHINING Position Summary: Responsible for leading manufacturing personnel to safely machine and fabricate quality parts on time within the estimated hours. Serves as a technical resource for the team. Ensures that the team objectives are met, including project, cost, quality and safety related factors. Reports To: Manufacturing Manager - Machining Personnel: Manufacturing personnel assigned to team Accountabilities: To lead a team to produce quality parts, on time, at the processed hours. Performance will be judged by work center efficiencies, indirect of direct and non-conformances. To lead the team to maintain their area, according to 6S and Lean Manufacturing standards. Play an integral part in the hiring, training and development of team members. Must also ensure team members are held accountable to performance expectations, and initiate appropriate performance feedback and discipline according to company policy. Authorities: Determine how jobs routed to work centers will be setup and processed. Assign personnel to appropriate tasks based on skill set. Arrange necessary overtime schedules. Duties: • Conduct planning of jobs • Attend Production Control meetings as scheduled • Attend pre-release planning meetings • Trouble-shoot shop floor issues • Coordinate programming preparation with the programmer (machining teams only) • Review Priority Dispatch Lists (PDLs) and assign personnel to support the plan. Attend job release meetings to advise engineer and gain advance information about upcoming jobs. • Determine if overtime is needed to support the plan, get overtime approval from department manager • Advise and assist personnel with technical support. Conduct regular team meetings. • Evaluate skill level and performance of personnel. • Investigate any anomalies- Non-Conformances (NC's), job overruns, accidents, incidents, define and implement appropriate corrective actions. • Provide any support to team members to help them do their job - material, supplies, instructions, etc. Job Qualification Requirements: Educational Experience - Educational requirements may be fulfilled by one or more of the following: Minimum requirement of High School Diploma or GED; with additional Trade School / Vocational School education, some college education or relevant job experience not less than three years in either machining or fabrication. Experience - Must be highly competent in the trade to be supervised. Five years minimum manufacturing experience. Previous supervisory experience is desired, but not required. Physical Demands - The employee is required to: • stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor • exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or • exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or • exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Certification Required - Not applicable Visual Acuity - Near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and machinery.
