Summary of Position: The Machine Operator I operates, leads and maintains a packaging machine (Bagger/Filler, Indexer, Capper, Case Packer/Maker, Sealers) and/or a production line and ensures it is running efficiently and meeting all quality and production KPIs with minimum supervision. Functions of the Position: % of Time Essential/ Marginal · Sets up machine (loading, dies, films, settings), conducts mechanical changeovers and monitors machine to make sure it is running efficiently. Troubleshoots lines, reports any issues to team lead or supervisor or manager and participates in line repairs and eliminates downtime repeats. Conducts weekly/bi- weekly machine preventative maintenance on machine(s). 50% Essential · Follows work order, quality controls and sanitation procedures concerning weights, packs, descriptions, dates UPC’s, cleanup and changeovers. 10% Essential · Performs quality control and material waste checks. 10% Essential · Directs/instructs machine line personnel in specific job duties. Trains other level I machine operators. 5% Essential · Performs pre-operational checks, and completes all forms needed for pre and post production. 5% Essential · Maintains and exceeds production, quality and safety standards. 5% Essential · Loads product into hopper. Also stacks, packs, and other duties in the workplace as necessary. Trains line personnel on specific job tasks. 5% Essential · Cleans machine properly after production runs or changeovers. 5% Marginal · Maintains a clean, audit ready and organized and safe work area with tasks such as sweeping, moping, and wiping/cleaning equipment and carries out any additional duties as assigned. 5% Marginal · Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following current good manufacturing practices, allergen/sanitation controls, food defense/food fraud, HACCP/FSMA, SQF, and regulatory requirements. · Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality. · Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management. · Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills, and information within assigned team and across functional areas. · Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development. · Responsible for compliance with all safety policies and procedures established for health and workplace safety. Continually · Responsible for supporting safety culture by practicing safe work behaviors, reporting potential hazards, and conducting safety observations as assigned. No Qualifications · Education, Experience, and Knowledge: o Prior manufacturing work experience, preferred. o Prior industrial truck experience, preferred. o Prior machine operator experience, preferred. · Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: o · Skills and Competencies: o Capable of following verbal and written directions. o Basic problem recognition and resolution on the line being operated. o Ability to communicate effectively and lead teams on the production floor o Mechanical, electrical, and analytical abilities including experience using standard tool for machine troubleshooting. o Basic computer literacy (to understand QAD and scanners). o Capable of managing multiple priorities o Good communication skills and ability to follow directions o Ability to speak, write and read English o Basic math skills o Good manual dexterity, vision and mobility. o Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Job Specific Requirements: This position is subject to mandatory overtime based on business needs.
