About the position The Machine Operator I is responsible for operating and maintaining one simple machine or a machine line within the production department. This role requires the operator to ensure that the machine is running efficiently with minimal supervision. The operator will set up the machine, load it with product, and monitor its performance to ensure it meets production standards. The position is crucial in maintaining the quality and safety of food products by adhering to good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, and regulatory requirements. The operator will also be responsible for performing quality control checks and material waste assessments to ensure that production goals are met while minimizing waste. In addition to operating the machine, the Machine Operator I will follow work orders and sanitation procedures, ensuring that all products are correctly weighed, packed, and labeled. The operator will also be tasked with cleaning the machine after production runs or changeovers and maintaining a clean and organized work area. This position requires a proactive approach to food safety and quality, with the operator being accountable for reporting any issues to management immediately. The role also involves collaborating with team members to share knowledge and skills, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team. Responsibilities • Sets up machine-loading and monitors to ensure it is running efficiently. , • Follows work order, quality controls and sanitation procedures concerning weights, packs, descriptions, dates UPC's, cleanup and changeovers. , • Performs quality control and material waste checks. , • Directs/instructs machine line personnel in specific job duties. , • Performs pre-operational checks. , • Maintains and exceeds production, quality and safety standards. , • Loads product into hopper. , • Cleans machine properly after production runs or changeovers. , • Maintains a clean, organized and safe work area. , • Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements. Requirements • Minimum of 1 year of manufacturing work experience. , • Basic math skills. , • Ability to follow verbal and written directions. , • Good manual dexterity, vision, and mobility. , • Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. , • Mechanical ability. , • Ability to speak and read in English.
