Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Physically fit with good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination and good sense of balance. Experience: Prior experience as apprentice carpenter is desirable. Major Responsibilities and Duties: Maintenance and Repair 1. Assist journeyman carpenter with any other work orders assigned. 2. Sweep and clean work area as instructed. 3. Organize materials as instructed. 4. Respond to emergency calls as needed. 5. Perform other duties as assigned. Safety 6. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. 7. Follow safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, use of electrical tools, etc. Other 8. Work irregular hours and respond to after-hour emergency calls as needed Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Equipment Used: Air nail guns, table saw, miter saw, planer, sanders, power saw, measunng devices, air compressor, other power tools, hand tools and light truck or van. Work Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Working Conditions Frequent walking, standing, climbing, stooping, kneeling and reaching, heavy lifting and carrying; work in tiring and uncomfortable position; outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and scaffolding; and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noises, fumes, and toxic chemicals. Frequent district wide travel.
