Summary: The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise. Work will include preparing designs for DC and AC collection systems and power plant controllers. Projects will focus on design and analysis and will consist of preparing plans and specifications, writing reports, and developing cost estimations. The work will be related to renewable energy facilities. The person in this position will also be responsible for managing projects, coaching and mentoring less-experienced staff, providing technical leadership, and managing teams to meet clients' needs. The work may at times involve short-term out-of-town assignments. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering • At least 5 years of related experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to the job responsibilities described above • Knowledge of and experience with DC and AC solar collection system design • Experience with power plant controllers • Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above • Computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office • Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with team members in a high-energy working environment that encourages self-initiative • A flexible working style and a willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meet deadlines and/or client needs • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within one year • Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future Preferred Qualifications: • 10+ years of related experience • Experience with collection system studies including ampacity, short circuit, reactive power, grounding, insulation coordination, harmonic, and transient overvoltage • Experience with energy storage facilities • Authoritative capabilities and experience applying industry-standard resource modeling and assessment techniques (PVsyst, Windographer, etc.) • Experience with statistical analysis of solar and wind data, resource and net energy production forecasts (including uncertainty/variability analysis and loss assumptions), design, site conditions, and technology suitability • Experience with data collection, post-construction measurement campaigns (including power performance testing), and project contracts • Demonstrated project organization and management skills • Client-relationship and business-development skills • Experience with AutoCAD A hybrid or remote work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office; a remote arrangement refers to working primarily from a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's or Minneapolis, Duluth, or Hibbing, Minnesota; Denver, Fort Collins, or Wheat Ridge, Colorado; or Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids, Michigan, offices. Compensation: The anticipated base salary range for this position is $89,000-$118,000/year. This position is classified as exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). POSITION SUMMARY TRC is seeking a highly motivated Renewables Project Manager (PM) for our growing Engineering, Construction - Remediation team in the Midwest. The PM can be based out of Cincinnati, Cleveland, or Columbus, OH, Grand Rapids or Ann Arbor, MI, or Chicago, IL. The PM will provide support in two primary areas: project management and engineering support. This position would be part of a very skilled team that works closely with Account Managers and other technical leads providing technical support for renewable project development. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and personable individual with an eye for detail, and a desire to be part of a growing and high performing team. This individual may work from varied locations in the mid-west or report to a TRC office in Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, etc. Responsibilities • The PM will provide project management support on renewable projects including solar, onshore wind, offshore wind, battery storage, hydrogen and other technologies. The PM will provide support in managing and driving the full spectrum of consulting services required throughout the project life cycle and help to ensure the capture of follow-on work opportunities in our existing projects. The PM will also support day-to-day operations of client accounts and cross-platforming of complex projects, including client relationship, proposal delivery, project staffing needs, work execution on client-s schedule, QA/QC of work product, and project delivery. As part of the PM responsibilities, the PM will support the development of project management tools, systems, processes and strategies to support renewables work at TRC. Engineering Support • The PM will provide technical support to account leads and senior project managers as they oversee the execution of renewable energy projects at TRC. The PM will help further efforts to align TRC engineering resources on scope, pricing and schedule for proposals and projects and to develop market-aligned benchmarks for renewables services. Specific Activities • Manage projects, leading teams to meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements; • Provide technical leadership, coordinate project workflows, manage financial performance and contribute to reporting; • Develop proposals resulting in the award of new work; • Engage with internal and external service providers to develop scope, budget and schedule using platforms, tools and approaches approved by the Renewable Energy team; • Perform Quality Analysis/Quality Control of key deliverables related to projects and tasks managed personally, as well as projects and tasks managed by others. Responsible for implementation of quality procedures at project and task levels; • Support the development of new business opportunities with existing and new clients; • Participate in key trade organizations and in the marketplace; • Support project and account leadership to further align TRC resources on scope, pricing and schedule and to develop market-aligned benchmarks for renewables services with research and analysis. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or equivalent engineering discipline from an accredited university. • Strong capability to interact with team members and clients. • Minimum 5 years of renewable energy development experience in the mid-west region of the United States (Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota, etc.) • 5+ years of experience of consulting experience on environmental projects, experience in renewables a plus. • Excellent attitude and ability to work well within a team environment. • Excellent technical writing, communication, and computer skills. • Must have a sense of urgency, be self-motivated, and can prioritize tasks. • Ability to work efficiently under multiple deadlines and changing priorities. • Ability to manage time independently and to work effectively on a project team. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. • Valid driver-s license.
