Traveling Welder - Northeast

Purpose/Scope: To provide general construction labor tasks, in an efficient and safe manner, as part of a welding for precast panels. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Completes general construction labor tasks necessary to caulk precast concrete panels • Takes work direction from welding crew foreperson • May perform work of a miscellaneous nature as directed by foreperson • Uses materials/supplies in an efficient manner • Handles equipment in a responsible manner • Follows established safety procedures and policies Basic Qualifications: • 3G & 4G Certified Welder • AWS Certification Other Required Qualifications: • Ability to carry out simple and complex verbal instructions • Ability to work well with others and maintain professional conduct at all times • Ability to work from ladders and aerial work platforms above 20 ft • Ability to obtain membership to local Laborers union • General knowledge of construction practices • Valid driver's license and reliable means of transportation • Ability to travel extensively (50% of the time or more, including overnights) and work overtime as needed Preferred Qualifications: • 2+ years of construction or manual labor experience • High school diploma or equivalent Physical Requirements: • Field: Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move minimum of 50lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, climb on a flatbed semi-trailer Work Environment: • Field: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Mid-west and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws. Welder - 1st Shift

About the position Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Welder - 1st Shift. At our Worcester, MA we focus in the Electrical Sector when it comes to Critical Power and Digital Infrastructure to multiple segments, so of those being Utilities, Hospitals, Data Centers, and Commercial Institutions. The Welder- 2nd Shift role will over full time 40 hour work week, Medical Benefits, 401K, vacation, and opportunity for upward mobility. Schedule will be 5:30am-2:00pm and Monday-Friday. The hourly rate for this position is $23.50 - 25.00 per hour. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Responsibilities • Perform routine hand-welding or robotic welding on a repetitive and non-repetitive nature on standard and near-standard assemblies. , • De-burr, grind, and fit components prior to welding. , • Grind and polish finished elements as required. , • Block jig or position parts prior to welding. , • Assist other operators in their work as directed/required. , • Perform work from manufacturing information, bills of material, written and/or oral instructions. , • Utilize manufacturing information, determine necessary parts/inventory, jigs/fixtures, and obtain materials from stock areas. , • Complete necessary preparation work such as wiping, degreasing, de-burring, or grinding of components. , • Operate spot welders, arc welders, plasma TIG welder, MIG welder, cutting torch, power grinder, power sanders, hand-tools, bandsaws, drills, temporary fixturing devices, jigs and fixtures, and other metal-fabrication equipment as directed. , • Be responsible for maintenance of equipment such as dressing of welding electrodes, oiling/greasing, machine settings, changing of tooling, and minor adjustments. , • Complete necessary maintenance check sheets and inform Supervisor and/or Maintenance personnel of any problems. , • Maintain equipment and perform housekeeping duties as necessary. , • Adhere to all environmental, health, safety rules and regulations, and work instructions including the use of ventilation equipment during welding operation and the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE). , • Assist team in achieving plant and department goals by flexing when needed. , • Assist with on-the-job training and continuous improvement. , • Foster an environment that promotes Eaton’s goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement through participation and teamwork. , • General knowledge of Eaton Quality Management System (EQMS). Requirements • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school. , • Six (6) months of prior welding experience or a technical diploma or certification in welding from an accredited institution. , • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. Nice-to-haves • 1-3 years’ weld experience in industrial manufacturing environment. , • Knowledge of basic shop math and welding symbols. , • Ability to read and understand formal, informal drawings, and/or engineering drawings.
