Candidates should have experience in welding and fabrication. The position will perform a variety of welding repairs related to metals recycling containers, machinery, heavy equipment, and transportation vehicles. PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES • Produce a variety of strong, clean welds utilizing various welding processes and equipment, and determining the appropriate welding method for the job. • Perform pre-weld and in-process welding inspections; insuring welds meet project specifications. • Troubleshoot problems, determine causes, and create solutions. Perform final check to ensure the end-product meets quality standards. Identify welding defects, reporting any deviations from project requirements to management. • Complete all work in strict compliance with company procedures and policies. Rigorously follow safety procedures. Maintain a safe, organized and tidy work environment. • Accomplish organization goals by completing tasks as required. • Rework and/or repair welded parts and machinery according to specifications. • Set up and maintain welding equipment, including the power source, feeder, gun, and shielding gas supply. Trouble shoot welding equipment issues. • Utilize hand tools including hand-held screw guns, drills, and grinders. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS • Completion of vocational training or a welding certification program; or equivalent experience is required. • Proficiency with GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG) and SMAW (stick) welding processes. • Must be able to work well without supervision, as well as part of a team. • Must be attentive to detail and compete assignments thoroughly and accurately. • Must be able to apply logic and reasoning to solve welding challenges. • Must be self-motivated. • Must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to 30 -50 lbs. and stand for long periods. • Basic reading and math skills are necessary. • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
