Welder (CIP Park Construction)

Position Summary Construct, repair and maintain metal portions of assigned City facilities and equipment using welding methods and techniques; review work orders and assess equipment and materials required for each task; respond to emergencies and perform field repairs and perform other technical maintenance duties relative to assigned area of responsibility. Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis. High school diploma or GED; and Two (2) years technical training in metal technology, welding, or fabrication; and Two (2) years welding experience. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire. Possession of AWS (American Welding Society) Welder Certification preferred. Preferred Knowledge • Methods, materials and equipment used in the welding field • Working properties of steel and other structural metals • Metallurgy, metal alloys and their characteristics • OSHA rules, codes and regulations • Principles and procedures of record keeping • Mathematical computations • Proper current and amps for specific welding application • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices Preferred Skills & Abilities • Operate a variety of welding equipment in a safe and effective manner • Read and interpret blue prints and specifications • Layout and design projects within specifications • Repair and maintain a variety of City equipment and structures • Operate chop saw, grinder, and lift • Analyze potential structural failures and make necessary reinforcements • Work independently in the absence of supervision • Communicate clearly and concisely • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work • Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation

Pipe Welder

Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welder to join our Construction team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various welding techniques, fabrication processes, and blueprint reading, contributing to the production of high-quality metal components and structures. This role offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects in a dynamic environment, utilizing advanced welding skills and mechanical knowledge to ensure precision and safety on every job site. Responsibilities • Perform MIG, TIG, FCAW, and welding on a variety of materials including sheet metal and pipe components. • Read and interpret detailed blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to accurately execute fabrication tasks. • Utilize hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to shape and assemble metal parts. • Operate cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment safely to move heavy materials and completed assemblies. • Measure dimensions precisely using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments to ensure adherence to specifications. • Conduct welding inspections in accordance with ASME codes & standards and company quality procedures. • Assist with fabrication of ductwork, structural steel, or custom metal assemblies as required. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety protocols and procedures related to construction site activities. • Collaborate with team members on complex projects requiring mechanical knowledge, assembly skills, or machining expertise. VIP Staffing is Immediately hiring Welders for a local Leading organization in Albuquerque This is a Full Time Temp to hire Position Monday - Friday 6am-2:30pm As a Welder you will: • Cut, assemble and weld both steel main-structured and steel sub-assemblies on manufactured products. • Utilize blueprints, sketches and verbal instructions to complete work • Accomplish flat and horizontal welding tasks related to production of stationary structures, piece work and mobile equipment • Utilize bridge cranes to position parts and assemblies during production • Operate both manual and automatic flame and plasma cutting equipment • Exchange empty cylinders of oxygen, shielding gas, and fuel gas for full cylinders using a hand truck/dolly • Assist machine operators on an as needed basis • Utilize the following welding processes; Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW) • Assist with the fit up and assembly of products Welding Candidates must meet the following requirements for consideration: • High School Diploma or GED; or two to three years of experience, but will provide on-the job training to appropriate employee • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual. • Basic knowledge of learning and numeral ability • Must have the ability to understand blueprints, visualizing plans, and welding symbols • Have good eye-hand coordination • Able to use cranes, pneumatic grinder, manual flame cutting torch • Must be able to follow repetitive work and follow verbal instructions. • Must be able to perform precise work to close tolerances • Must have the ability to pass welding test: AWS 1.1 position 3G with E71-T1 electrode GMAW Process • Able to be on feet for entire shift, can also be bending, stooping, climbing and lifting through out shift • Must be able to push, pull or drag suction hose on to tanks that weight anywhere from 10 - 100 lbs.
