Residential Solar Battery Installer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Solar Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Installer to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of residential solar PV systems, with a strong focus on advanced battery energy storage solutions. Responsibilities: Installation & Commissioning: · Perform all aspects of solar PV installation, including racking, module mounting, stringing, wiring, and grounding according to established plans, specifications, and NEC codes. · Install, wire, and commission various BESS systems, including Enphase, Tesla Powerwall, and other leading manufacturers' equipment. · Set up and configure monitoring and control systems for both PV and BESS. · Conduct pre- and post-installation inspections, testing, and system commissioning to ensure optimal performance and safety. Safety & Compliance: · Adhere strictly to all company and OSHA safety standards and procedures, including proper use of PPE and fall protection. · Ensure all electrical work meets National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and local jurisdiction requirements. Maintenance & Troubleshooting: · Diagnose, repair, and resolve complex electrical and mechanical issues related to PV arrays, inverters, microinverters, and battery systems. · Perform routine preventative maintenance on installed systems. Teamwork & Documentation: · Collaborate effectively with the Field Superintendent, Project Managers, and other crew members. · Accurately complete all necessary job documentation, including work orders, inspection forms, and system commissioning checklists. Qualifications: Experience: · Minimum of 2 of hands-on experience in solar PV installation. · Demonstrated expertise and direct experience installing, wiring, and commissioning Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). Specific experience with Enphase (e.g., Encharge/IQ Battery) and Tesla Powerwall is essential. · Proficient knowledge of electrical theory, DC and AC wiring practices, and the safe use of power tools and equipment. Certifications & Licensing: · Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. · In-depth knowledge of residential solar systems, electrical wiring, and the National Electrical Code (NEC). · NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification is a strong plus. SolarEdge and Enphase inverter and battery certifications. Skills: · Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. · Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings. · Proficiency with common hand and power tools. · Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship. · Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions. · Basic technology skills, primarily with a smartphone. Physical Requirements: · Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), climb ladders, and work on roofs for extended periods. Driving: · A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required. POSITION SUMMARY: We’re seeking a WA EL02 Licensed Residential Electrician to support our Service Department. This position is preferred for electricians with solar rooftop experience who are comfortable with both ground-based and rooftop aspects of solar installations. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform post-installation service work on residential solar PV systems. • Troubleshoot and repair electrical components, inverters, monitoring systems, and storage. • Conduct warranty work and preventive maintenance inspections. • Complete rooftop service tasks, including racking, wiring, and module replacement. • Work safely at heights, on ladders, and on pitched roofs in all weather conditions. • Collaborate with project managers and communicate directly with homeowners. • Document all service activity clearly and thoroughly. • Train and mentor apprentices, promoting best practices in quality and safety. WHAT YOU BRING: • WA EL02 Residential Specialty Electrical License. • Rooftop solar experience strongly preferred. • Knowledge of electrical, roofing, and building systems. • Comfortable blending electrical and physical rooftop work. • Excellent communication and customer service skills. • Strong troubleshooting and independent problem-solving skills. • Ability to lift 50 lbs, work in attics/crawl spaces, and operate power tools.
