You’ll lead layout, attachments, racking, module set, wire management, and DC homeruns to the roof junction box, and you’ll assist with wire pulls in the conduit run. No AC work or full BOS leadership is required for this role today—though inverter and AC knowledge is valued for future promotion to Full Install Lead. What You’ll Do (Roof/DC Scope Only) • Lead day-of roof operations: safety checks, crew tasking for roof work, and close-out photos/docs. • Perform array layout, flashing/attachments, Pegasus/IronRidge (and other) racking, module set, wire management, labeling. • Complete DC homeruns to the roof junction box and assist with wire pulls in the conduit run. • Perform basic homeowner greeting/arrival check-in; no other interfacing required. Must-Haves • 2+ years residential solar installation experience with proven roof-lead responsibility. • Comfortable on shingle, metal, flat roofs, and ground mounts. • Own hand tools; company provides major power tools and specialty gear. • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. • Willing to work statewide in NC & VA with possible overnight stays. • Familiarity with Enphase and SolarEdge systems (terminology, components, and site readiness). • Able to read plan sets, follow NEC/utility notes applicable to roof/DC work, capture QA photos, and complete checklists. • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work at heights and in varying weather. Nice-to-Haves • Certifications: OSHA-10/30, First Aid/CPR, NABCEP (PVA or PVIP). • Ability to install, program, and troubleshoot inverters (Enphase/SolarEdge)—not part of this role’s day-to-day, but valued for advancement. • Familiarity with additional racking platforms beyond Pegasus and IronRidge. Pay & Travel • Piece-rate by system size (DC): base pay set per kW with difficulty adders (e.g., steep pitch, metal roofs, ground mounts, long conduit runs). • Minimum rate: $0.05/W DC (5¢/W). Prices are negotiable based on scope, site conditions, and the right candidate. • Travel compensation: paid travel time + $/mile to site + per diem for overnights. • Company covers lodging on multi-day runs; power tools, consumables, and PPE basics provided.
