Solar Panel Installer/Roofer

Job Type Full-time Description General Summary Serve as a liaison between Good Faith Energy customers, equipment manufacturers, project management, and senior engineers. Duties and Responsibilities • Must be fully qualified and capable of working directly with Project Management (PM) to understand and evaluate scheduled electrical work needed to complete projects in a timely manner. • Must be capable of performing all duties associated with the crew leader position. • Must be able to self-prepare for all scopes of electrical work needed by evaluating pictures from site assessment and communicating directly with the project management and design team about any necessary changes or improvements to the electrical plan set. These changes must be documented and sent to the project management team. • Must maintain tools and materials needed to "adapt and overcome" any challenges in the field including utility shutdowns. • Must be capable of communicating at a high level with city inspectors. • Must maintain a 90% or higher pass rate on all electrical equipment wall installations and maintain less than 10% of service calls generated by installation-related quality issues. • Must be capable of cross-training and crew development when assigned to supervise and support solar installation crews, allowing roof crew leads to self-perform installations while maintaining consistent quality by performing and documenting (pictures) quality control checks at specific points during the installation process. • Must be capable of supervising the crew while the electrical apprentice (roof lead or other designated person by management) gets to experience electrical wall installation and service upgrades. • Must have required personal tools of the trade, see "minimum required personal tools of the trade". • Attends all meetings and conference calls. • Performs consistently with company core values. • Maintains strict confidentiality. • Provides excellent customer service, for both internal and external customers. • Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines. • Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times. • Adheres to company safety standards at all times, such that no serious (requiring medical attention) injury occurred during the prior 12-month period. • Follows other policies and procedures such as no verbal or written warnings during the evaluation period. Requirements Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required • Must have a valid driver's license. • Fluently speak, read, and write English. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to effectively speak with customers, vendors, and employees. • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and work with minimal supervision. • Skilled in time management and managing multiple simultaneous tasks. • Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills. • Must be OHSHA 10 certified. • Must have required personal tools of the trade, see "minimum required personal tools of the trade". • Must be trained and qualified to operate a company truck and capable of operating any heavy equipment on the job (trencher, man lift, forklift). • Ability to meet the job's physical demands, including, but not limited to: walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, transporting supplies or equipment, sitting at a desk using a lifting, and carrying items that may weigh up to 75 pounds. • Proficient in the proper use of safety gear and training/supervising for working above 6' from the ground, roofs, ladders, etc. Leads should be capable of teaching the material in the Good Faith Energy Solar Installer Safety Guide. • Read all installation product manuals for devices installed. • Communicate effectively through all work-related chat/email chains. • Responsible for the accurate layout of roof attachments according to engineered requirements of roof attachments and rails/rail-less. • All employees are required to read the Good Faith Energy Solar Safety Guide and the lead should be capable of teaching the material. • Must have a safety meeting for every job. • Must have a general knowledge of electricity and how it works. • Must be able to commission a site and connect to the customers' wifi or cell kit. • Must be able to troubleshoot solar array issues. • Must be actively studying the NEC book and understand the active year's code book to achieve the next level of electrical license. • Must be capable of listening carefully and following instructions at all the different steps of the installation process. • Must be willing and ready to learn each day how to become a Lead Electrician. • Responsible for layout. • Must be capable of finding and using data sheets for equipment. • Must be fully qualified and capable of performing every aspect on the roof of Installing a complete start to finish Residential Solar installation and Electrical interconnection( soladecks) including Ground-mounted and Roof-mounted systems. • Must be able to perform Layout and understand the craftsmanship of being Plumb, Level Square, and aesthetically pleasing. • Must be proficient at bending EMT and Rigid conduit and knowledgeable about installing Romex and MC style multi-wire branch circuits through attics and wall spaces as well as MC4 crimping. • Must have basic knowledge of Electrical theory, especially Grounding, Bonding approved methods, and professionally crimped connections. • Must be able to follow and build from 3-line electrical diagrams. • Must be able to understand string theories that are code compliant. • Capable of Leading and training an entire crew of 3 or more people and or performing the above tasks without any helpers when necessary. • Must be capable of carrying solar panels safely from ground to roof. • Must be capable of maintaining a minimum of 90% pass rate on all roof and ground mount PV installations. • Must be able to maintain less than 10% of service calls generated from Installation related quality issues. • Responsible for attic runs, conduit runs on the roof and terminations in soladeck and junction boxes( may delegate attic run responsibilities if needed). • Responsible for flagging and stickers on the roof or attic. • Responsible for customer interaction with any roof layout changes. • Must have customers sign off on any changes before attachments are started and update the PM team with correct documentation and photos. • Work with the PM team at the home office on any changes or issues that arise. • In charge of Job folder completion and delivery to the PM team each day. • Responsible for the completion of the Whole Solar Panel Job ( not the electrical wall) • Must be available for overtime to meet project deadlines. • Must be able to work on time on a regular basis during regular business hours. • Position spends approximately 90% outside- Must be able to work in all ambient temperature situations. • Vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.
