Our projects are strategically located to provide maximum benefit to the region, while also meeting the community’s demand needs. Scope of Job: Renewable America is seeking a Solar Project Development Engineer to support the development and engineering efforts of solar and energy storage projects across California. This hybrid role blends PV system design, interconnection planning, environmental permitting support, and operational performance monitoring. Ideal candidates will have an engineering background and hands-on experience in solar project development workflows. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to advance projects from early-stage development through operational handoff—without being responsible for full project management. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare preliminary PV system layouts and refine single-line diagrams using AutoCAD or equivalent tools. • Simulate energy production using software like PVSyst and analyze performance metrics. • Assist in due diligence efforts, including environmental, permitting, and interconnection feasibility. • Draft and submit interconnection applications; coordinate with utilities to track status and resolve issues. • Monitor permitting processes, support consultants, and ensure compliance with CEQA and other regulations. • Support pricing analysis, offtake strategy, and development team requests for RFP/RFO responses. • Collaborate across land acquisition, finance, and engineering to align project timelines. • Take full responsibility for managing operational asset performance, including responding to alerts and optimizing output. • Stay informed about evolving technologies and regulatory developments relevant to solar and storage markets. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Environmental), Renewable Energy, or a closely related field. • 1–3 years of experience in solar project engineering, interconnection, or renewable energy development. • Familiarity with permitting processes and compliance requirements for renewable projects (e.g., CEQA). • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, PVSyst, and GIS platforms. • Strong Excel skills and the ability to support or understand financial modeling and pricing assumptions. • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and pivot in a dynamic work environment. • Passion for renewable energy and a collaborative team mindset.
