What You Will Do Perform the work required to layout, fabricate, install and repair the less complex sheet metal and trade related items required in plant infrastructure and process equipment. Work from drawings, sketches or verbal instructions to fabricate, weld and install a wide variety of items made from all types of sheet metal, plastic, fiberglass or other materials. These materials vary in thickness from foil to plate. Gathering basic information and working within the limit of standard practice analyze requirements and existing conditions to recommend part configuration. Identify appropriate material to be used to adapt to existing systems or equipment while considering space limitations and type of hangers and connectors. Take measurements and make a working sketch of items to be made. Perform calculations using shop mathematics. Develop flat patterns to layout templates using triangulations, parallel or radial line layout required to produce the complex transitions, junctions and geometric shapes. Fabricate holding devices as required to position and maintain dimensional features. Connect mating parts by methods such as drill and screw, rivet, solder, spot weld and standard locks, drives, seams, clips and protectors. Prep, setup and dress welds. Locate, fabricate and anchor hangers. Cut holes and alter structure as required. Disassemble existing components in able to reproduce and improve construction while holding exacting tolerances. Check operation of items built an installed, correcting any unforeseen problems or difficulties as required. Construct molds and plugs as required to produce desired shape. Reline tanks using standard practices with synthetic material and perform leak check. Assist in other infrastructure and process equipment work as required. Physical Requirements Frequent walking, standing, and working on scaffolding and overhead structures Ability to frequently lift/move objects up to 25 pounds This is an Onsite position on 1st shift. 7:00AM to 3:30PM WILLINGNESS TO WORK OVERTIME AS NEEDED Qualification You Must Have 1plus years manufacturing experience in Sheetmetal fabrication, milling, lathe, drilling Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions Familiarity and/or expertise with fabrication, finishing, assembly processes Ability to read and understand safety notices High School, GED, or equivalent education Qualifications We Prefer 5+ years’ experience working with Sheet Metal 1+ years’ experience with use of shop mathematics including trigonometry and geometry and the ability to work from complicated drawings and sketches. 1+ years’ experience with use of measuring instruments such as micrometers, scales, protractors, calipers and dividers. Under direction of Leader/Supervisor make and repair sheet metal parts and assemble structures using welding, riveting, seaming and other standard metal joining techniques. Work from drawings and sketches or verbal descriptions to layout work, obtain material and tools and setup and operate metal forming and cutting equipment. A team member at this level is expected to perform difficult hand or machine sheet metal operations to form, fit, fabricate, and repair a variety of complicated developmental aerospace details, parts, assemblies, and related tools. This position requires a mechanical and technical aptitude and an ability to follow work instructions, while ensuring all functions are performed according to Pratt & Whitney, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Quality policies.
