Sheet Metal Technical Lead

Job Overview: This role is responsible for development of all products in support of operations and approve all documents for new development and production hardware that requires sheet metal fabrication, forming and deburr. In addition, Technical Leaders perform additional duties with cross-functional teams to drive quality, continuous improvement, on-time delivery, as well as comprehensive operator training and development. Responsibilities and Duties Required • Install hardware such as bolts, nuts, screws, rivets, nut plates and other hardware as instructed by customer specifications or engineering drawings or work orders. • Remove burrs and polish all material types used. • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and contribute to Shapes 6S program and Lean concepts. • Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions. • Perform all tasks in a safe and reasonable manner according to the Shapes Employee Handbook. • Sets up machines to form and cut material using press brakes, presses, and shear in accordance with operation process sheets or drawings. • Utilize and understand operation process sheets and inspect parts per character control sheets. • Assist in efficiently training sheet metal operators in all aspects of the job.Perform any other related duties as required. Qualifications and Skills Required • Ability to work independently or in a team environment. • Ability to read and follow company processes, policies, and procedures. • Ability to stay focused, adapt to change, and pay close attention to detail. • Ability to perform mid-level math skills efficiently and accurately (including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals) • Ability to use various inspection equipment. (Calipers, Micrometers, gage pins and height gages etc.) • Ability to multitask and work effectively and efficiently to shop order standards. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. • Proficient in marking or serializing parts using various marking methods. • Proficient in operating sizers, planishers and an assortment of rivet guns. • Proficient in using required tools such as drill press, belt sander, orbital sander, swivel deburr, bench grinder, and other hand tools as instructed by the Operation Process Sheets. • Understanding and knowledge of different abrasives to use depending on material type being deburred. • Ability to polish and remove burrs on all different material types. • Ability to operate girt blast machines and tumblers. • Understand how to check break edges and radi. • Knowledge of bending, rolling, and forming of multiple types of material CRS, Stainless, and Aluminum. • Possess advanced GD&T knowledge. • Possess advanced understanding of dimensional prints.Must be able to communicate and read English proficiently. Tech Lead Skills and Responsibilities Required • Assign operators with daily work assignments aligning with daily dispatch reports. • Responsible for training and documenting operators training. • Train and validate operators use of inspection equipment and accuracy that align with inspection record sheets. • Partnering with engineering team members for timely development and creation of work instructions and acceptable levels of success. • Carefully review and approve work instructions per Gate 3 & 4 prior to launching into production as identified in Gate 5. • Ability to set-up, operate, and maintain CNC non-conventional and troubleshoot with professional discretion, acknowledging when repairs require third party participation for resolution of equipment failure. • Ability to evaluate current production programs to offer improvement plans that will improve efficiency and quality following CNC Software Control.Train and audit operators for CNC software control. Job, Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Physical Demands: • Must be able to lift, move, transport and load items across the building up to 50 pounds at times. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position and constantly re-position self to perform required tasks. • Constantly operate machinery required for this job. • May be required to work on slippery and uneven surfaces. • May be exposed to physical hazards from moving equipment, heavy equipment, and machine parts. • Specific coordination is necessary to operate computers and various pieces of equipment.May work in close proximity to others.
