Overview We are seeking a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical knowledge, HVAC systems, and property maintenance. As a Sheet Metal Mechanic, you will be responsible for fabricating, assembling, and installing sheet metal products and equipment. Your expertise will contribute to the efficient operation of refrigeration and air conditioning systems. Duties • Fabricate and assemble sheet metal components according to specifications and schematics. • Install ductwork, ventilation systems, and other sheet metal products in residential and commercial settings. • Perform maintenance and repairs on existing HVAC systems, ensuring optimal performance. • Troubleshoot issues related to ammonia refrigeration and other cooling systems. • Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and safely. • Utilize tools and equipment necessary for cutting, shaping, and joining sheet metal. • Maintain a clean and organized work environment while adhering to safety protocols. Qualifications • Proven experience as a Sheet Metal Mechanic or in a similar role. • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read and interpret schematics. • Familiarity with HVAC systems, air conditioning units, and property maintenance practices. • Experience with ammonia refrigeration is preferred but not required. • Ability to plumb systems as needed for installation or repair tasks. • Valid driver's license with the ability to operate a van for transportation of materials. • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in various environments. Qualifications: • Must have proven experience in welding and fabrication, and be able to pass a weld test. • Prior experience in fabricating ductwork from light-gauge metals and/or experience with HVAC ductwork is a plus. • Strong capabilities in interpreting engineering blueprints and drawings. • Experience with fabrication and hand tools. • Excellent understanding of various types of metal and their respective properties. • Capacity to manage physical demands. • Familiarity with Safety regulations and readiness to utilize personal protective Equipment (PPE). • OSHA 10-hour will be required within 30 days of employment. • Experience with painting is a plus, and willingness to be a backup for these positions.
