Hiring Department Campus Construction Job Description Position Summary Perform skilled work on a journey level in the fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of sheet metal products and equipment. Normal duties may require working with materials other than metals. All work is subject to spot checking and inspection for conformance to specifications and accepted standards of the trade. Key Responsibilities: Lay out patterns, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment. Select gauge and type of sheet metal according to product being fabricated. Set up and operate fabricating machines to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal. Shape metal, set up and operate soldering and welding equipment to join together sheet metal parts. Smooth seams, joints, or burred surfaces. Inspect assemblies for conformance with specification. Transport fabricated components to area of installation, assemblies, and installs. Set up ladders, scaffolding, and staging equipment to facilitate working at heights. Perform testing and balancing of HVAC systems using appropriate testing equipment (e.g. air flow meter). Clean, maintain, safely operate and properly store all tools and equipment. Observe and enforce all safety requirements related to equipment operation. May perform or assist in the preparation of cost estimates, material orders, reports and maintenance of records. Perform other duties as assigned. Shift 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday Minimum Qualifications • A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. • Four years actual work experience and training, including the equivalent of apprenticeship or vocational training, in the trade. • Ability to read blueprints, plans, drawings, and wiring diagrams. • Skill in maintenance and use of tools, equipment and materials of applicable trade. • Ability on a daily basis to: • Grasp, lift, maneuver, rotate, and otherwise use small to large trades tools and equipment. • Grasp, lift, carry, and set down heavy objects (50-80 lbs.). • Grasp, turn, twist, pull, push, lift, and otherwise move equipment, controls, parts, etc. • Visually assess maintenance, construction and repair needs. • Climb and work from ladders, stairs, and scaffolding. • A valid driver’s license may be required. Preferred Qualifications A valid driver’s license which will allow the legal operation of a motor vehicle in the State of Missouri is required.
