About the Role: As a Metal Fabricator, you may be responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic and non-metallic parts by performing duties on the machines such as, but not limited to, Saw, Manual Lathe/Manual Mill, Drilling/Lay-Out, Press Brake and Plasma. You will work with a team of skilled professionals to ensure that all products meet the highest quality standards and are delivered on time. Your attention to detail and ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics will be essential to your success in this role. You will report to the Fabrication Lead and work closely with other members of the production team. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent • 1 to 3 years of experience in metal fabrication or machine shop experience, or equivalent technical training/certification • Ability to maintain attendance within the parameters of the attendance policy • Ability to read and interpret job orders, blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings • Ability to read and understand tape measurements and decimals (standard and metric) and perform basic addition/subtraction (decimals and fractions) • Skill in the fabrication, joining and repair of a variety of metal objects, equipment, fixtures and structures • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form • Ability to use department equipment such as forklift, ladder/scaffold, overhead crane, and power tools • Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to co-workers, management, vendors, suppliers, and customers • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers, management, suppliers, and customers Preferred Qualifications: • Certification or technical training in metal fabrication • Experience with CNC machines • Strong problem-solving skills Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Job Summary: We are looking for a skilled and dependable HVAC Ductwork Fabricator to join our in-house sheet metal team. This role supports both commercial and residential projects, with a 50/50 mix of work. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately fabricating sheet metal duct systems based on project specifications, ensuring high quality and efficiency in every build. You’ll work on everything from small-batch custom residential duct to large-scale commercial systems—giving you the opportunity to broaden your skillset in a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities: • Interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and specifications for both residential and commercial HVAC systems. • Lay out, measure, and mark sheet metal in preparation for cutting and forming. • Cut, bend, notch, and assemble ductwork using a range of tools, including shears, brakes, plasma cutters, and roll formers. • Fabricate a variety of duct types, including round, rectangular, and specialty fittings for both new construction and retrofit jobs. • Maintain adherence to SMACNA standards for both residential and commercial applications. • Assemble duct sections using S-cleats, drive cleats, Pittsburgh seams, and other appropriate methods. • Ensure all fabricated materials meet project requirements for quality, sizing, and airtightness. • Support loading, staging, and delivery coordination of fabricated duct to job sites. • Collaborate with shop and field teams to prioritize urgent or time-sensitive fabrications. • Keep shop tools and equipment in good working conditions and maintain a clean work area. • Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED required; vocational training in HVAC or sheet metal preferred. • 2+ years of experience in HVAC duct fabrication, ideally with a mix of residential and commercial work. • Ability to read and interpret HVAC blueprints and shop drawings. • Knowledge of SMACNA standards for both residential and commercial systems. • Skilled in using sheet metal fabrication tools and machinery. • Strong work ethic and ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision. • Comfortable lifting 50+ lbs and working on your feet for extended periods. • Good communication and teamwork skills.
