JOB SUMMARY: Sheet Metal Fabricator I is the first of three levels of skilled sheet metal work. At this level, the fabricator has the capability to fabricate metal material by applying appropriate fabrication techniques. In addition, this position requires the ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, or diagrams to determine appropriate fabrication process. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job and works under direct supervision. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned: 1. Receive prints from Machine Shop Supervisor or Field Service Advisors and sketches from assembly personnel. 3. Ability to read and understand blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific fabrication requirements. 4. Fabricate parts using the most efficient method, taking care to finish the part accurately and aesthetically pleasing. 5. Meet or exceed DMC sheet metal fabrication standards. 6. Maintain work area in accordance to 5S standards. 7. Determine which fabrication process should be used in a given situation. 8. Use a variety of tools and machines. 9. Must be able to set up, lay out materials, and operate press brakes, punch and shear. 10. Report necessary maintenance and repair for equipment used in the sheet metal department. 11.
