REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: • Receive in written and oral instructions for the Task Leader • Assist in planning and estimating plumbing repairs and related installations. • May aid in all necessary plans and specifications required when maintenance or installations are to be performed by other than district personnel. • Requisition the issuance of supplies, parts and materials. • List materials, making estimates of costs of construction and repairs. • Recommend to the task Leader as to the adequacy, necessity and extend of desirable repairs in the interest of the safety of pupils, personnel and property. • Perform journeyman work in the installations, such as servicing lines for distributions of fresh water, air lines, sanitary sewers and storm drains, including such equipment as valves, faucets, water closets, lavatories, or modified sprinkler irrigation systems for P.O.C., laterals, connecting lines risers, heads and all other pipes/lines required. • May also do plumbing work related to heated plants, servicing fuel lines and other related duties, such as metal working, soldering and welding require din the construction and repair or metal equipment, and perform duties in conjunction with other trades. • Service kitchen equipment. • Power clean all downspouts on annual basis at each school site and record on appropriate form for Task Leader • Maintain assigned vehicle in daily safety check. • Maintain clean and safe work area • Perform other duties as assigned EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • High School diploma or GED • Training and practical experience requirements for completion of the apprenticeship program or equivalent. • At least four years verified experience as a plumber, in all phases of the plumbing trade, including experience in the installation, maintenance and repair or heating appliances, their appurtenances and facilities. • Experience in the routine maintenance and repair of installations and all plumbing equipment, appurtenances and facilities. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of: • Basic fundamentals of plumbing and related craft work. • the tools and equipment commonly used in the plumbing craft. Ability to: • Operate and maintain mechanical tools and equipment common to the craft. • Perform heavy manual labor • Work cooperatively with others LICENSES: • Must have appropriate California Driver's License and be insurable by the District's carrier • Must secure any other licenses as required by the District • Must have and maintain all appropriate licenses, permits, and bonds required by the employer and local, state and federal agencies. Wear appropriate safety equipment as required. • Participate in emergency procedures regarding flooding, wind storms, utility outages, earthquakes, and hazardous waste spills. • Assist in other Maintenance and Construction areas as needed. • Other duties as requested.
