When a covered item malfunctions, they contact us, and you, as our skilled Universal Technician, will be dispatched to their home to diagnose the issue and perform the necessary repairs. Your primary responsibility is to provide a seamless, professional, and high-quality service experience, upholding the esteemed standards our company has maintained for over five decades. You will be the go-to expert for a wide array of home systems, including: • Air Conditioning (HVAC): Diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of residential AC units. • Plumbing: All aspects of residential plumbing systems, including leak detection, fixture repair/replacement, and drain clearing. • Major Appliances: Servicing refrigerators, ovens, ranges, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, garbage disposals, and more. • Basic Electrical: Troubleshooting and repair of residential switches, outlets, light fixtures, ceiling fans, and other common electrical components. Key Responsibilities: • Customer Interaction and Service Excellence: • Arrive at customer residences promptly and in a professional, company-approved appearance. • Introduce yourself clearly, explain the purpose of your visit, and review the work order with the customer. • Actively listen to customer concerns and descriptions of the issue to aid in accurate diagnosis across HVAC, plumbing, appliance, or electrical systems. • Clearly and patiently explain your diagnostic findings, the proposed repair solution, service contract coverage details, and any potential out-of-pocket expenses in an easy-to-understand manner. • Obtain written customer approval before proceeding with repairs, especially those exceeding pre-defined cost thresholds or not fully covered by the service contract. • Maintain a consistently courteous, respectful, and professional demeanor throughout every customer interaction. • Protect the customer's property by using shoe covers, work mats, and ensuring the work area is left clean and tidy. • Adhere to specific building access protocols, such as using service entrances and designated parking at condominiums or gated communities. • Comprehensive Diagnostics and Expert Repair: • HVAC: • Perform thorough inspections and accurately diagnose malfunctions in residential AC systems. • Utilize knowledge of various equipment types and manufacturer service manuals. • Execute repairs using high-quality replacement parts as authorized by the company and service contract. • Test repaired AC units thoroughly to ensure functionality and address any remaining issues. • Explain post-repair maintenance tips to optimize AC unit performance. • Appliances: • Conduct pre-service research based on provided model numbers and manufacturers, utilizing resources like MSA, OneDrive, Google, and AI tools. • Troubleshoot malfunctions in a wide range of major household appliances. • Perform diagnostic tests and procedures to identify the root cause of problems. • Follow lockout/tagout procedures when working on electrical appliances. • Test appliances thoroughly post-repair to ensure the original problem is resolved. • Explain completed repairs and provide recommendations for future appliance maintenance. • Plumbing: • Perform thorough inspections of plumbing systems to identify the source of leaks, blockages, or other issues. • Utilize technical expertise and knowledge of current building codes to determine appropriate repair solutions. • Execute repairs efficiently, using high-quality replacement parts. • Test the plumbing system thoroughly after repairs to ensure the issue is resolved. • Electrical: • Accurately troubleshoot and safely repair basic residential electrical issues, including faulty switches, non-functional outlets, problematic light fixtures, and ceiling fans. • Understand residential wiring and apply safe work practices. • General: • Leverage your broad technical expertise across all trades. • Perform all repairs efficiently, safely, and to the highest industry standards, adhering to best practices for each trade. • Meticulously document your work by taking clear "before" and "after" photographs for every job, aiding in quality control and record-keeping. • Administrative, Communication, and Logistical Duties: • Maintain open and consistent communication with the dispatch team throughout the workday, providing timely updates on your arrival at job sites, departure, job status, and any unforeseen delays or issues. • Accurately and comprehensively complete all required digital and/or physical paperwork for each service call. This includes detailed work orders noting the problem reported, diagnosis, repairs completed, parts used (if any), and labor time. • Obtain customer signatures for authorization and approval on all completed work. • Proactively manage the inventory of your assigned service vehicle, ensuring it is well-stocked with commonly used parts, tools, and safety equipment for all trades. • Submit parts requests clearly, accurately, and promptly through the designated system when a necessary part is not available on your truck, specifying part details (name, model number, quantity). • Properly status calls with correct service codes to ensure accurate billing, parts ordering, and operational flow. Qualifications We Are Seeking: • Proven, hands-on experience as an HVAC Technician, Plumber, and Appliance Repair Technician in a residential service environment. • Demonstrable knowledge, skill, and safety consciousness in diagnosing and repairing basic residential electrical systems (switches, outlets, lighting, etc.). • Specific Trade Knowledge: • HVAC: Strong understanding of residential AC systems, diagnostic procedures, refrigerant handling (EPA certification required), and potential safety hazards (electrical, working at heights). • Appliance: Familiarity with a wide range_of appliance brands and models, ability to use diagnostic tools and research resources effectively, understanding of lockout/tagout procedures. • Plumbing: In-depth knowledge of residential plumbing systems, materials, current building codes, and industry regulations. • Relevant licenses and certifications for HVAC (EPA Universal) and/or Plumbing are highly preferred. • A valid State of Florida driver's license and a clean, insurable driving record. • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills – you must be able to build rapport and trust with homeowners. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities. • The ability to work independently, manage your time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a dynamic field environment. • A steadfast commitment to safety in all aspects of your work, including the consistent and correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and respirators when necessary. • A proactive approach to learning and a willingness to participate in ongoing company-provided training to stay current with new technologies, repair techniques, and industry best practices across all trades.
