As a commercial plumber you will be responsible to assemble, install and repair pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes. Commercial and Industrial jobs but on occasion may work on residential. Essential Job functions include (but not limited to): • study plans and drawing to determine work aids required and sequence of installation • inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe • Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch and pipe-threading machine • Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead; and nonmentals such as glass, vitrified clay and plascit or PVC, using hand tools and power tools • Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints • Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, faucets, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks and water softners • Mentor and assist with training of helpers on the job Qualifications include (but are not limited to): • Valid driver's license • High school diploma or GED. Performs skilled level duties under limited supervision within all facilities of the District PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Perform skilled and specialized duties in the installation, maintenance, repair and alteration of water lines, drain lines, plumbing fixtures, sewer and similar facilities and equipment. • Complete scheduled preventive maintenance projects. • Install, inspect and troubleshoot plumbing systems; maintain operational water lines by repairing leaking lines, domestic hot water systems, dripping faucets, drinking fountains, toilets, urinals, showers and hose bibs. • Repairs and replaces domestic hot water heaters, domestic hot and cold water lines, sump pumps and sewage pumps. • Monitor, inspect and install regulators to maintain proper water pressure and avoid damaging lines. • Assist in planning and complete installation of new plumbing fixtures. • Interpret plumbing plans and specifications to assure conformity with codes and established health and safety regulations. • Determine requirements for parts, materials, supplies, tools and equipment; present recommendations to supervisor for approval; check and test new equipment. • Complete and maintain work orders through the district work order software to include labor and purchases. • Snow removal as required.Perform other job duties as assigned.
