Concrete Carpenter

Carpenter responsibilities and abilities include but are not limited to the list below. Other duties may be assigned. • Construct built-in-place or prefabricated wooden and/or metal forms, according to specifications, for molding concrete structures such as: piers, footers, retaining walls, abutments, parapets, caps, columns and bridge decks • Proficiently saw lumber per blueprint dimensions, using handsaw or power saw, and nail lumber together to make form panels. • Perform work with some supervision • Pour and screed concrete to grade and straight edged • Treat equipment with care and keep tools clean • Proficiently erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level • Hang ledgers, overhang brackets and decking with either plywood or steel forms • Tying rebar • Proficiently form slabs, columns and walls for concrete pours • Ability to form and pour minor projects with little instruction. • Layout footings, walls, boxes, dowels, etc. • Lift and handle built-in-place forms and/or assembles, erects and installs prefabricated forms. • Insert spreaders and tie rods between opposite faces of form to maintain specified dimensions. • Anchor and brace forms to fixed objects, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, and planks. • Proficiently build rough wooden structures such as: scaffolds, temporary frame shelters, overhang jacks and safety railings. • Lift and set rails for finishing machine. • Pour concrete in forms and decks which requires vibrating, shoveling and raking. Also assists cement finishers. • Demonstrate good Knowledge and ability to use the following forming systems • Aluminum Gang Forms • Simons • EFCO • Stick Frame Wood Forms

Responsibilities: • Live our Core Values: Safety, Honor, Communication, Innovation, and Strength. • Assist with various tasks related to underground construction. • Focus on learning what we do and applying your knowledge to help the team become more efficient. • Safely work around heavy equipment operation, bore equipment operation, rigging, and welding • Personally, inspect all tools and equipment before use • Return tools to their proper location on the work truck after use • Keep our work trucks neat and organized • Properly prepare, execute, and cleanup each task • Follow direction of acting Foreman at all times • Identify and communicate safety hazards to team Requirements: • High school diploma is a requirement. • Any underground, excavation, or pipe experience is a plus, but not necessary. • A good attitude and willingness to learn are a requirement. • Be in good physical condition. • Have reliable transportation. • Must be able to travel. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Stand or walk for extended periods. • Use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects. • Frequently lift and carry materials or objects weighing 50 to 100 pounds without assistance. • Climb up and down ladders and other objects while potentially carrying tools and equipment. • Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow and sleet. • Employees may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens. Responsibilities and Duties • Be a Leader. • Set the example and lead by it. • Be Positive and have a “Can Do” attitude. • Insure that SAFETY is a priority and way of life. • Daily Onsite Management of assigned project and team members. • Inform and manage team members on issues such as: rain events, time off, tardiness, work schedules, assist with reviews, job site disputes, etc. • Help Facilitate good jobsite training procedures for team members, help them grow. • Review and recommend ideas or procedures to help improve jobsite safety, productivity, etc. • Read, analyze, and interpret plans, technical procedures, specifications, job schedules, regulations, and cost breakdowns for the job. • Maintain a high standard of quality control (Our Missions is Precision…Underground). • Complete Daily Reports: Time Sheets, Field Quantity Reports, JSA, etc • Organize and complete assigned jobs in an efficient and timely manner. • Review and understand job cost reports (We will help you with this). • Assist management in updating project schedules and work duration forecasts. • Enforce all safety regulations, company policies and procedures. • Maintain inventory control over jobsite materials, tools, equipment. • Insure security of jobsite. • Help schedule efficient equipment mobilization and material delivery. • Help Insure timely return of rental equipment on your site. • Insure that work truck is maintained and kept in a neat and orderly state at all times. • Make sure that all equipment, tools, and supplies on the work truck are accounted for, replenished, maintained, and ready at all times. • Help insure that all equipment required for your job is serviced and maintained in a safe working order. • Maintain good relationships with inspectors, engineers, subcontractors, and other key people connected with the project. • Review Job Knowledge sheets and approve knowledge of individual items as they are completed by subordinates. (You will be required to pass off company knowledge sheets, as well. We will help you with this). • Help to insure "Dig Tickets or Blue Stakes" are valid for assigned site, prior to commencing work. Qualifications and Skills • Be a LEADER. • Ability to manage jobsite and team members • Basic understanding of survey principles of measurement and mapping. • Ability to SAFELY operate all types of equipment used on heavy construction jobsites. • Ability to perform basic maintenance and repairs on equipment. • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans, specs, regulations, and technical procedures. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Some experience with computers. • Strong math skills including the ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages. • High school diploma or GED. • Three years experience in a construction supervisory role working with utility/excavation/trenchless/underground equipment.
