Things You'll Do • Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. • Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones. • Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed. • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes. • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. Requirements • Must be 18 years or older. • Attention and commitment to safety. • Ability to work well with others in a team environment. • A strong work ethic. • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. • Ability to bend, sit for long periods, and work in the heat. • Ability to lift 50 lbs without assistance.
