Position Summary: Responsible for smoothing out, leveling, and finishing freshly poured concrete at job or construction sites. Qualifications and Experience: • Smooth out concrete in segments to ensure the concrete poured is level • Fill roadways, driveways, sidewalks, bridges, homes, and parking lots • Arrange the concrete forms • Spread concrete • Prepare surface with hammer and chose • Rub cement in with sponge-rubber float or burlap • Level it using special blades, making sure all lumps and bubbles are smoothed over • Use wood or plastic forms to shape the concrete and hold it until it is set • Smooth high spots and fill depressions • Make concrete beams, columns, and panels • Wash away excess concrete • Finish corners by hand • Use machines that vibrate concrete to fill air pockets • Use groovers and hand trowels to spread concrete • Halt concrete pouring if weather looks bad • Prepare the base • Cut pavers • Install masonry according to specifications • Pour sand in as filler Additional Requirements: • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen Please note that this position is not eligible for work visa sponsorship "McHugh Concrete Construction, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, age, national origin, citizenship status, veteran status, sexual orientation, genetic information, disability, and or any other basis protected by law or company policy. See More Details >>Primary Responsibilities • Activities primarily include the patching of concrete. • Other duties may include the placement of vertical and/or horizontal concrete, handling of concrete buckets, use of power tools such as a mechanical vibrator, operating motorized equipment, standing, walking on narrow work surfaces at considerable heights above the ground with fall protection measures in place, for the placement of concrete type materials. • Work requires alert individual with good balance and physical strength. • Working during inclement weather, could be exposed to extreme cold and heat, noise and dust from construction operations depending upon project site. • The job of concrete finisher, as described, falls into the heavy work level and requires lifting up to 75 pounds on a frequent basis. • Frequently lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds of material and up to 90 pounds of material with assistance, if requested. Minimum Qualifications • Constant standing, walking, reaching, crawling, balancing, and grasping. • Frequent lifting, carrying, climbing, stooping/crouching, and kneeling. • All aspects of vision are required – acuity, depth perception, and field of vision. • Ability to talk and hear is very important for communication with supervisor and co-workers on safety and operational matters. • Working during inclement weather, could be exposed to extreme cold and heat, noise and dust from construction operations depending upon project site. Preferred Experience Preference given to candidates with a minimum of 2 years of concrete finishing experience at meets or exceeds performance expectations.
