CONSTRUCTION - Entry Level

This job may be JUST the job for you! Habitat for Humanity of the River Valley is seeking an amazing, entry level construction worker to join our Award Winning Construction Team! CONSTRUCTION - Entry Level Accountable: Construction Manager & Construction Project Coordinator PURPOSE: This position is responsible will assist the department leads in general construction duties. Including, but not limited to construction of Habitat homes, cleaning of sites, delivering tools and supplies to job sites, maintaining Habitat properties, and other duties as assigned. ATTENTION: This is an entry level, manual labor position, requiring heavy lifting, yard work, and great stamina and endurance are required to be a success at this position. TIME COMMITMENT: Full-time; Tue – Sat, some nights and weekends RESPONSIBILITIES: I. General Construction Duties A. Working with Construction staff and volunteers in the construction and rehab of Habitat homes B. Assist staff and lead volunteers in repairs and warranty work C. Ensuring Habitat job sites are clean and clear of hazards and risks at the end of the workday. D. Ensuring job sites and Habitat property are secured at the end of the workday (i.e. lock doors, turn off lights, lock gates, lock dump trailers, etc.) E. Coordinate with staff and volunteers to ensure the necessary tools and supplies are at the job sites in a timely fashion, also keeping up with the tools and supplies inventory F. Use equipment and tools in a safe and proper way in order to complete tasks. G. Assist in the upkeep of the Habitat property and the Habitat vacant lots (i.e. cutting grass, weeding, removal of debris and trash). II. Other tasks and assignments A. Complete other duties as assigned by the Construction Manager and Project Coordinator. B. Be aware and work within budget for above assigned tasks. III. Skills and Qualification A. High School diploma or equivalent B. Valid Driver’s License and insurable with Habitat’s insurance providers C. Good driving record and must be able to drive different type of vehicles, pull trailers, and equipment. D. Experience and/or basic construction knowledge is preferred. E. Knowledge and ability to use general equipment and tools necessary to complete tasks in a safe and proper manner. F. Ability to work with volunteers in the spirit of the mission of Habitat for Humanity G. Ability to plan, schedule, prioritize, coordinate, delegate, and manage multiple work activities. H. Effective interpersonal communication skills, deal well with a variety of people, personalities, age and backgrounds. I. Flexibility regarding work assignments and work hours. J. Understanding and support of the vision of Habitat for Humanity of the River Valley, includes Madison, Jackson and Limestone County in Alabama. Degree in in construction management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred). •Strong background in managing a diverse portfolio of commercial projects (e.g., classified projects, commercial office spaces, and manufacturing. •Proven ability to lead, mentor, and inspire teams across multiple projects •Deep understanding of construction operations, contracts, scheduling, and budgeting. •Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills •Strong business acumen and the ability to make data-driven decisions •Familiarity with construction management software and other Office 360 applications such as Excel, PowerPoint & MS Project.
