Position Description The Construction Technology Instructor will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the principles and practices of construction technology. This role involves delivering hands-on and theoretical instruction, and ensuring students gain the technical skills and industry knowledge necessary for successful careers in construction and related fields. Key Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum Development • Deliver engaging lesson plans and instructional materials for topics such as construction methods, materials, blueprint reading, safety regulations, and project management. • Conduct hands-on workshops and lab sessions to teach practical skills like framing, masonry, plumbing, electrical systems, and use of construction tools and equipment. • Identify proper tools and equipment required for labs as appropriate. Student Support and Assessment • Assess student performance through tests, projects, and practical evaluations. • Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills and knowledge. • Offer academic and career advising to students interested in construction technology careers. Industry Collaboration and Professional Development • Maintain partnerships with local construction companies, unions, and industry organizations to ensure alignment with industry standards. • Stay updated on advancements in construction technology and incorporate new practices and tools into the curriculum. Classroom and Lab Management • Maintain a safe and organized learning environment in classrooms and labs. • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and OSHA regulations during all instructional activities. • Assist Workforce development staff in the monitor and manage inventory of tools, materials, and equipment. Qualifications Required: Five (5) years of industry/work experience in instructional area. The ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in instructional area. Preferred: Associate’s Degree and at least ten (10) years of experience in instructional area. Five (5) years at Journeyman Level or combination of experience and training. Experience with teaching adults and curriculum development. Experience teaching adult learners and flexibility in working with diverse groups. A basic understanding of Microsoft Office. Additional Information Salary: $35.00-$45.00/hour. Final candidates are subject to a pre-employment criminal background investigation.
