Construction Laborer

Construction Laborer The Construction Laborer perform tasks involving physical labor at heavy construction projects. Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools and small equipment. May clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials. This candidate will also be responsible for safely operating commercial vehicles to transport materials and equipment to and from construction sites. Responsibilities: • Operate jackhammers, drills, and various power tools. • Position, join, align, and seal structural components, such as concrete wall sections and pipes. • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. • Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment. • Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools. • Build and position forms for pouring concrete, and dismantle forms after use, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts. • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes. • Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications. • Measure, mark, and record openings and distances to lay out areas where construction work will be performed. • Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities. • Drive trucks carrying materials and equipment from warehouse to sites. • Assists in excavation work by hand digging ditches or trenches, backfilling excavations, breaking out concrete or asphalt, compacting and leveling earth to grade specifications, and shoring and bracing underground excavation. • Assists the crafts by hauling materials to job sites and cleaning debris from work site • Signals equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. • Controlling traffic around work zones as directed. • If you are assigned a company vehicle, you will be responsible for stocking, cleaning, and reporting maintenance needs to the Fleet Manager. Qualifications: • Previous experience as a construction laborer or in a similar labor-intensive role. • Ability to safely and effectively operate various types of construction equipment and tools. • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints. • Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to driving and construction work. • Physically fit and capable of performing manual labor tasks in various weather conditions and environments. • Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. • This job will include traveling 2-5 days a week. You will receive hotel accommodations and per diem for every night you spend the night. • Overtime is required and you must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays dependent on the job and the company's needs. • Able to perform night maintenance and emergency callouts. • Previous experience working in telecommunications is preferred but not required. • Valid Driver's License with satisfactory driving record within company standards is required. • Class A CDL is nice but not required.
