The role involves constructing, altering, repairing, and renovating structures made of brick, block, stone, and cement. Daily tasks include interpreting blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, laying bricks or stones, mixing and applying mortar or cement, and using specialized tools and techniques to complete projects with precision and quality. See More Details >>Position Summary Masonry Laborers perform tasks involving physical labor at commercial and industrial construction projects. You will clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, clean up rubble and debris and remove waste materials. You will be following directions and assisting the other laborers/skilled workers on site. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: • Supports the masons work area stocked. • Maintain a clean work environment. • Cleaning finished work surface: including but not limited to power washing, scrubbing. • Learn to cut bricks as needed for corners, arches and complex patterns. • Prepares surfaces for laying brick, block, or stone. • Keeping mortar temped on the board. • Stocks material for masons: blocks and materials . • Assists with erecting scaffold to meet safety and job requirements (learn tag safety.) • Assists masons with installation of wall ties, flashings and papers to job specifications. • Erects scaffold to meet safety and job requirements. • Jointing the wall • Washing masonry walls after the work is cured • Assisting with training new laborers to learn and understand job responsibilities. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver's license prior to employment. • Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work. • Willingness and ability to perform manual work following verbal and written instructions. • Some knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies used in heavy/highway construction work. • Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions. • Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule. • Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. • Ability to communicate orally and in writing. • Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.· • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions. • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
